BOXERS ARE DISQUALIFIED
Herman and Hausner Do Not Try, says Oakland (NJ) A.A. Referee
Referee Hank Lewis disqualified Babe Herman and Jack Hausner in the tenth round of their scheduled 12-round bout at the Oakland A.A. in Jersey City last night because he declared the boxers were not trying. Their money has been held up and they will have to appear before the New Jersey Boxing Commission.
Repeatedly during the early rounds of the bout the referee ordered the men to show more activity, and at the end of the ninth round Commissioner Lyons instructed the referee that unless there was more action to disqualify the men. Herman weighed 124 1/2 pounds, while Hausner weighed 122 3/4.
