Something wrong with Gunner Moir's record...

Post by 6 Pack »

In reading Dan McCaffery's book about Tommy Burns he writes Gunner beat Tiger SMith for the British middleweight title. Then moved up to heavyweight and beat Jack Palmer for the British heavyweight title.

But the database has the smith fight taking place after the Palmer fight. Considering Gunner was over 200 pounds at heavyweight I find it more plausible that he won the middleweight title and moved up in weight later as the book says. Hard to beleive he dropped 45 pounds to win the middleweight title and then went back up to heavyweight to challenge Tommy Burns for his title.

The book says he then beat two other fighters from Australia (one fo them being Tiger Felix which is in the database). He then came back to Britian and had sensational victories over Iron Hague and "Nutty" Curran (whom I thnk was P.O. Curran).

The book then says Moir beat several European fighters and won the European heavyweight title aswell. WHile the database has him loosing that title, it is missing his vitories over his European opponents.

Can any one shed some light on the differences of dates for some of the fights between the book and the database? ALso any one know about some of his missing bouts?

I am trying to complete his record and make a better bio for him ( wrote one that is brief at best).
