2 Roy Jones Jr victims. 2 bad boys of the sport with great techniques all round. Both of them in their primes were pretty COMPLETE FIGHTERS that could fight any style in front of them. James Toney is one of my favorite fighters. Who wins??? The BHop that whupped Trinidada ones sided or the Toney that beat Michael Nunn and Mike McCallum?

Toney wins a close decision. Neither guys gets KO'd as both had granite chins, Toney was very inconsistent buty at his peak he was amazing and very good defensively

As a person,I completely dislike Toney,but as a fighter,Man oh man,has he had me eating my words since the start.I think a prime Toney outhustles a very game Hopkins,who just can't land the punches to necessitate the start of a lead.Toney unanimously.

Tough one B-Hop was more consistent and always came in great shape the same can't be said for Toney.. I think a prime B-Hop has high enough workrate and is fast enough to be able to catch the slick Toney..

Both were beaten by Jones, but Hopkins was competitive and he improved adter the Jones fight. This would probably be like the Toney-Nunn fight, where Toney is outobxed. Unlike that fight, Toney wouldn't be able to knockout Hopkins. Hopkins by decision.

Hopkins wins this matchup. Wrong style for Toney on top of the fact that Hopkins was a lot more consistent, never lost to a B or even C level fighter which Toney has done more than once at every weight hes fought at (sometimes he got the decision but didnt deserve it). I think Toney always looks great against guys who come to him but Hopkins would be WAY too smart for that, it would be a boring chess match with Toney landing the flashier shots but far to infrequently.

Exactly Klompton. Toney is at his very best when the other guy comes right at him, but show him a jab and a little lateral movement, and all of a sudden he doesn't look like an all time great. Hopkins by a close but clear decision.

Assuming this is best against best then on his best day Toney wins a decision over Hopkins.

Great fight here. I think Toney takes a split decisoin, his counterpunching just a bit too sharp for B-Hop. I thought this fight was gonna be made in the early 2000's, a shame it wasn't.

Hopkins couldnt KO Toney with a handgun.

Two great defensive fighters. Both have power but neither are Julian Jackson. Both hall of famers with hall of fame chins. Peak Toney against peak Hopkins, I'm going to go with Toney.

Reasons are Hopkins can tend to go in to cruise control and try to come on late. Toney is a much more active fighter. Also as Hopkins picks up the pace late so does Toney right there with him.

I like both of these guys and their badass no fear attitudes. All in all I feel if Toney had Hopkins discipline he would be looked at as top 10 all time.

On their best days as Middleweights Toney wins a close decision, holding off a late round surge from Hopkins.

Hopkins by close decision for me.

Toney, just too strong in the fundamentals, and Hopkins nonsense will be pretty much a non starter for "point gathering" against this particular opponent. So it's inevitable that Toney would win on points.
