Hagler-Finnegan I and II

I have heard that Hagler found these fights tough going.

Where these fights filmed and what are board members recollections of them?

Not actually seen these 2 fights (bit before my time), but I've heard on British boxing programs down the years that Kevin Finnegan gave Hagler 2 decent fights.
His brother Chris also put up a very brave effort against Bob Foster in a light heavyweight title fight

Somone told me that a cut to Finnegan changed the momentum of one of the fights. Don't know if anyone can verify this?!?

Accounts of the first fight suggested a very close fight at the time of the cuts stoppage and that Finnegan had taken the last few rounds.

Second fight, Finnegan did not give the cuts enough time to properly heal and was cut to shreds early because of it.

You Brits are really something....how does being under talented and getting beat not once, but twice by an "over rated plodding southpaw" ......how does this end up falling in the "decent fights" catergory? He was beaten by Alan Minter three times for crying out loud, that ought ot tell you something.

Talk about reaching..... :(

??? Now I'm confused, I thought they were talking about Hagler. Who is this "over rated plodding southpaw" guy?

Vito Antuofermo was good and he lost to That Minter guy twice.

According to Boxrec records Kevin Finnegan was beaten by Alan Minter three times.....that speaks volumes of the guy's talent or lack there of....

It also speaks volumes for your lack of any real knowledge of boxing.

Skimming over a few records doesn't tell you much, really. You'll be calling yourself a boxing historian next.

Despite the fact that Minter won all three bouts, they were all close and at least one could have gone the other way.

One of them was an all time classic bout too, not that a gimp like yourself would realise that even had he seen it.

Some people think that winning the championship of the world (not paper titles) or a national title, or winning Olympic medals is a great achievement in any sport. People also enjoy the excitement of a boxing match at any level. Your definition of "Decent" seems way, way out to me. How good or exciting a fight is does not necessarily have anything to do with how good or bad the combatants are.

I'm pretty sure they don't exist on tape.

A lot of the earlyish Hagler fights don't appear to exist, but some surface from time to time (Hart, Demmings, Geraldo & Warren etc). Some relative of Hagler's popped up a year or so ago claiming to have all these missing fights (would guess it might be Sims) but they've yet to surface. Some like Briscoe etc have been shown on ESPN.

I think it's still the case no fights of his exist on tape. Which is pretty incredible, given how many times he fought.

Charley Burley is another, although I think one fight does exist (I have seen it, can't remember who it was).

I have seen some footage from Zale/Graziano II, but it was pretty fuzzy, silent and jumped around from round to round. Still, it's better than nothing.

Sometimes these fights just surface.

its vs a lightheavyweight pretty late in Burley's career, can't remember his name.
