ARTHUR ABRAHAM

Post by overhand_right »

Any word on the IBF middleweight champs latest direction?

Anyone know if hes planning on coming out of his backyard to raise his profile in the US? (3 straight defences, all in germany)

Is his jaw healed & does he have a fight lined up, if so, who?

Amin Asikainen is IBF #5 and the only guy in the top 10 who looks likely (unless you can see Abraham/Winky, i cant)

How do you rate Abraham? Personally i think he outpointed Miranda, and i think hes too tough/good for Jermain Taylor. Think hes too strong for Winky too, for me Abraham looks the best middle in the world.

Agree or disagree, bitches? :box:

I also thnk he outpointed Miranda (with relative ease), but then I think Miranda is overrated. If this is so, Abraham must be considered a bit unteseted. I wouldn't talk of him in the same breath with Winky and Taylor yet. Good defense, good speed with both hands and feet, but offensively a bit of a one-trick pony (feint, in, punch combo, out).

Let's see what he can show us this year.

I think his win over a clearly heavy hitting (but yes crude) Miranda, plus doing so with horrific injury, puts him above Taylor.

I know Taylor bumped off B-Hop so deserves to be seen as The Man, but i think Abraham takes him.

But will Abraham be another stay at home champ? I frickin hope not!

It's funny that Abraham beat Miranda yet it's Miranda that's getting all the big fights and $$$ now. Green, Pavlik then possibly Taylor. Hope Abraham hasn't missed the boat with that injury. Get him in with Sturm/Castillejo winner.

Thats a major let down if thats true.

The guy is ranked #15 by the IBF, and hasn't beat anybody.

Obvioulsy you can still buy rankings at the IBF...

Abraham has been inactive for a while. Consider it a comeback fight. The bout thereafter is the one that matters.

But boxers these days only fight once every 6 months.

Theres no excuse for such a lame fight.

I understand what your saying
As far as a name goes
He's not the best choice
But I have watched tapes on this kid, I think it will be a very entertaining fight.

I rate him as the toughest middleweight on the planet, he's a vicious b*****d and very hard to beat: heavy punch in either hand, great chin, big heart and cunning as hell.

Taylor might be ranked above him, but I'd back AA to beat the reluctant American if they ever met...which they wont.

He's enough of a star in Germany for them to keep him there - he makes the money and pulls the crowds: no need to go abroad really.

Exactly. Miranda won the fight and that is why HBO has jumped on him and making him a star. Abraham got the bogus win, but he will never be the same from the brutal beating he took from Pantera.

Ive sparred many rounds with AA and before he took the licks miranda gave him i would have put him on point to destroy taylor but im afrain AA might just be damaged goods. As a fighter can only go to the well so many times but in that fight it wasnt just his jaw that was broken!

Arthur may NEVER be the same now and thats a shame. Im not saying hes finished. Im simply saying we probably will never get to see AA at his possible very best.

Ugly as it was, it was only a broken jaw. Fighters usually recover from this.

As far as the Miranda fight, the ref was inept but purely on rds regardless of anything else AA won more rds than Miranda and that is clear as day.

How on earth Miranda could not take out a man fighting with such a grotesque injury is beyond me. AA must have elephant balls!

I think it is his stamina he needs to work on the most since he seems to fight in short bursts and then cover up. Besides he seems to tire rather quickly and often walk away with his back on the opponent during breaks to catch his breath. This means he will not look so good against opponents with a high work rate (see the jantuah fight).
I would be nice if he could keep a higher pace in between his bursts because i really think he then could dominate all the middleweights.

He has wins against Ian MacKillop who knocked out Shannan Taylor last year right after Taylor went the distance against Abraham.

That is a pretty weak "win" to call upon.

Howard Eastmans kayo of Richard Williams i think is far more worthy and Eastmans not ranked by any of the bodies.

It seems the only way Warriors Boxing can build their fighters is send him abroad then bitch and moan about being robbed afterward.

well i'll tell you, mr overhand right, just what i'm contributing to your thread.
i'm saying miranda kicked his aaassss. which is exactly how i saw the fight. before the opening bell my loyalties probably lay with AA, but he got whacked that night. i know most people on this forum have something against miranda, but since i have no particular dislike for the guy i can be objective and tell the truth - he handed AA his butt and if you take a look at whats happened to both fighters since then you'll put your prejudice away and give some credit to miranda, coz your boy has done sheet all.

by the way, if you only want people to post on your thread who are in agreement with you then i suggest this is the wrong site for you.

Abraham was the one kicking ass, he made Miranda look pretty poor that night. I scored it to Abraham by a wide margin.

Regardless what you think.
Fact is Miranda is quickly becoming a star and many people's favorite fighter. Abraham is being forgotten about, and we yet to see if he will ever fight or be the same.

So you tell me who is better off?

Interesting comments - I was going to raise the fact that I think that he took such a beating will have effected him, not just physically, but mentally.

Miranda might have smashed AA jaw to bits, but he continued to fight on, even with the busted jaw - Miranda should have finished him, but didn't... Who knows if Miranda woul;d be able to beat him now he's more experienced. I doubt that the fight will ever happen as I suspect AA doesn;t ever want to fight Miranda again..
