What is Australias greatest weight division?

Post by Grant »

I go for middleweight take a look at the fighters we have had in the boxrec all time middleweight rankings. Search on Australian and 'all time'
for an aussie almost every name in the top ten are greats.
Bantam I think is second

The bantams have the score on the board when you look at world titles - Carruthers, Rose and Fenech. Carruthers and Rose won theirs when there was only 1 champ per division so this raises their achievements

At middleweight we've had some terrific fighters over the years :TU:

I reckon its pretty tough to pick but I do notice I don't even have the option of going higher than middle!

I think it is funny that in a country full of big blokes that we haven't produced more in the higher divisions...

I think the author was spot on in not including anything above middle. Besides Jeff Harding for a few years at LHW I can't think of too many that have achieved much of note on the world scene

Our bigger guys simply don't have the skill to compete at world level (it's a pity the Aborigines aren't a large race)
