Soulan Pownceby VS Wayne Orbell

Post by N2 Shape »

New Zealand Olympian and Commonwealth Games Light-Heavyweight Soulan Pownceby is making his pro debut at Cruiserweight (I believe) this weekend against former Auckland Amateur Rep Wayne Orbell. Pownceby is probably best remembered as the "baby killer" and for DQing himself out of the first round of the Athens Olympics!

Pownceby has been attempting ot go pro for a year or so now but kept changing his mind, looks as though hes for real this time out.

Orbell is tough, but Pownceby is a level above him but still should be a good fight.

Looks like Soulan has changed his mind again. His fight this Saturday is off. Orbell was weighing 3kgs over the Light-Heavy limit. What Soul has to understand is with the limited fighters NZ has at Light-Heavy and Cruiser he cant be p[icky with his opponents.

Thre whole Pro card has been pulled from Saturday which is a shame because it means my boy Mike Lloyd wont make his pro debut as hoped!!

After Orbell was weighing heavy he was lined up to face Kalolo Cruise but Kariuki broke his ribs in sparring!

Soulan just needs to get in and fight, he aint going no where as a pro if he doesnt step into the ring! You know the deal down here Chauncy especially at Light-heavy/Cruiser you have maybe 10 guys max if that that are NZ based to fight, if your going to start turning down those guys cause they are 3kgs over weight then you wont be fighting anytime soon.
