10 Favourite fights?
There's been many a memorable battle throughout the history of boxing. What's your 10 favourite bouts? Your list/choices doesn't have to be in any specific order, just your top 10.
I figure if I were to ask for your list to be a smaller number, then maybe the question would be more difficult given the great number of fights over the years.
It'll be interesting comparing each others choices.

My favorite of all time is the rumble in the jungle because of its significance and impact on the world. Because it was in the sports premier weight division and was between such different characters. A monster against the most charismatic athlete ever. And the fight was tremendous. The pace was blistering and the quality was unreal. It had absolutely everything.
My other 9 in no particular order:
Leonard V Hearns 1981.....two supreme welters at the height of their power
Bowe V Holyfield 1..amazing quality for such big men, speed, power, accuracy and non stop action
Toney V Barkley...what a display of boxing genius from Toney. It's why he's one of my alltime favorite fighters. A little inconsistent however.
Hagler V Mugabi 1986. Hagler's chin is steel and Mugabi put up one hell of a fight. Rd 6 is up there as one of the greats.
Chavez V Taylor 1990. What can I say. Pure brilliance and heart non stop from both men with the most exciting ending ever. Justified too. It also happened on Paddy's night and me being Irish, I wasn't letting this GO!!
Clay V Liston....Clay defies belief by taming a beast with such a display of speed, grace, balance, coordination and heart for a heavyweight. I have yet to see such a big man fight like such a light man. Effortless beauty.
McGuigan V Pedroza 1985. Again being Irish it's an automatic choice. The atmosphere in Loftus road that night was never seen before in a British ring and may never be seen again. A bit sad too as Barry dedicated the fight to an opponent he boxed who died shortly after fighting Barry. McGuigan a true Gentleman
McGuigan V Cruz Las Vegas.....the guttsiest display I have ever witnessed in the history of sport. For Barry to go 15 rds throwing punches non stop in that heat, being from a country like Ireland is unbelievable. And against a guy who was raised in that heat. I still believe Barry won that fight
Gatti V Ward 1......what a cracker!!!!!!!

No particular order and if you asked me tomorrow I might give a different list but...
Ali-Foreman... favorite fight
Morales-Barrera... still the best fight of this decade, Gatti-Ward & Corrales-Castillo included
Duran-Barkley... 37 year old former Lightweight champion going toe to toe with a prime Middleweight champion, future Heavyweight
De La Hoya-Vargas... I like Trinidad-Vargas a lot but this was the more interesting fight to me, a lot of good boxing, a lot of good punching, great knock out
Hopkins-Trinidad... I spend half the time laughing when watching this fight... its hard to believe in hindsight that anyone thought Trinidad had a chance, let alone made him the favorite...
Louis-Walcott II... good fight, great knock out... I love revenge fights like this
Toney-Nunn... awesome performances by both fighters... if Toney had fought his whole career like this he wouldn't have lost to too many people...
Holyfield-Qawi... Holyfield with like 14-15 fights fighting an amazing fighter and veteran in Qawi... awesome fight
Clay-Liston...
Robinson-LaMotta VI... probably Robinson's best performance that we have film of, lots a movement, lots of briliant combination punching, hard shots, fast hands, nice jab...

Roberto Duran vs Esteban De Jesus the first fight. This is the fight that made me a boxing fan. Watching my father and uncles jumping up and down after De Jesus got the victory was something that I’ll never forget.
Wilfredo Gomez vs Lupe Pintor
Felix Trinidad vs Fernando Vargas
Alexis Arguello vs Alfredo Escalera
Marvin Hagler vs Thomas Hearns
Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard
Jose Luis Castillo vs Chico Corrales
Eric Morales vs Marco A. Barrera
Wilfredo Benitez vs Antonio Cervantes
Alexis Arguello vs Aaron Pryor
In no particular order.
Oh my God! I almost forgot Rafael Limon vs Bobby Chacon in 1982. Wow! If you want to see pure action, then watch it.

These are not the ten best fights I have seen, but probably the ten fights I got the most enjoyment out of seeing:
Lewis vs Tyson
Green vs Lucas
Ali vs Foreman
Tyson vs Douglas
Lewis vs Rahman II
Bryant vs Tongia
Castillo vs Corrales
Tszyu vs Judah
Hearns vs Hagler
Tszyu vs Mitchell II
Not all the greatest fights, but all appeal to me in a certain way, and most I enjoyed watching live immensely.

1. Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas Hearns - bell rang, and they went at it.
2. Carmen Basilio vs. Tony DeMarco I - how can you not like a Basilio fight??? This was my fave.
3. Carmen Basilio vs. Sugar Ray Robinson I
4. Diego Corrales vs Jose Luis Castillo I
5. Sugar Ray Leonard vs Thomas Hearns - Two Hall of Famers in their prime, at the peak of their powers. Those guys used everything they knew about boxing and dug deep. Leonard dug deeper.
6. Riddick Bowe vs Evander Holyfield I
7. Kid Gavilan vs Chuck Davey - Gavilan just whooped his ass
8. Thomas Hearns vs Roberto Duran - Hearns just whooped his ass
9. Ali vs Frazier I & III - lost alot of its luster of me because of overplay in ESPN classic, but their both undeniably one of the greatest fights ever
10. Felix Trinidad vs Fernando Vargas - a lil forgotten because both fighter's later careers, but one of my faves ever that I watched live. Trinidad looked like he was going to destroy Vargas until he came back in the middle rounds and then Trinidad took control later and knocked Vargas out in the 11th.

My top 10 personal best:
1. Leonard vs Hearns I: A fight between two all time greats in their complete primes. Never lack for action. THE BEST FIGHT I HAVE EVER SEEN.
2. Chacon vs Bazooka Limon VI: Their fourth and last fight was the best of their series. Non-stop action from the opening bell.
3. Duran vs Leonard I: The most anticipated bout in history outside the heavyweights. It was like Ali-Frazier I in smaller version in terms of anticipation. Duran was magnificent in all the areas. Leonard was great too, but got beat by a great champion. I will never forget this night.
4. Hagler vs Hearns: 3 rounds of mayhem. Frightening pace all the way.
5. Pryor vs Arguello I: The climax and anticipation for this fight was unbelievable. I wanted to see Arguello win his 4th world crown but was stopped by a fantastic champion...I cried for Arguello.
6. Duran vs Barkley: How many resurrections does the great "Hands of Stone" has? A war from start to finish. Each one trading blows. A fight that had everything.
7. Chavez vs Taylor I: Taylor performance is one for the ages. One of the best performances in a losing side. 2 seconds, 2 seconds of greatness left finished by a right cross. Skill to the highest level. Chavez legacy became much greater by winning this fight.
8. Trinidad vs Vargas: My pick for the best fight of this decade.
9. Holyfield vs Bowe I: Two heavyweights throwing punches at terrific pace. Bowe showed to be stronger, but Evander showed true grit and heart. The best fight Bowe ever had. The 10th round a classic.
10. Tyson vs Douglas: I thought that it was going to be another feasting day for the Iron Mike. All of the sudden, Douglas showed that he was different from all the opponents Mike face. Never seen a heavyweight that big that knew how to use his height, strenght and physical advantages. The 8th round was a classic. The 10th round...Classsier.
Other fights that I enjoyed watching live:
Holyfield vs Tyson I
Holyfield vs Foreman
Tyson vs Ruddock I
Duran vs Moore
Duran vs DeJesus II
Other fights that I enjoy watching, but I was too young or was not born in that time:
Ali vs Frazier III
Ali vs Foreman
Ali vs Frazier I
Louis vs Conn I
Gavilan vs Gil Turner
Duran vs Buchanan
Duran vs DeJesus I
