Diaz has only fought 1 guy with a winning record and that ended in a draw. All his other wins were over journeymen, and somehow he is now WBC champ. How?

How is Erik Morales, having lost his last 3 fights in a row (2 by kayo loss) step up into a new division and qualify to fight for the WBC title? How?

How can Katsidis be WBO interim champ and arrnaging a defence when there is an active and fighting WBO champ already in Juan Diaz? WTF is all that about?

And where is the actual #1 lightweight Joel Casamayor in all this?

Well, it would seem likely that Diaz got the title because he was being lined up to fight Morales, who will be going for his fourth weight divisional title, it will be a big fight and therefore a nice fat sanctioning fee. It's Erik's last fight so he says, so we can anticipate an absolutely huge turnout.

Because the WBC found the smallest excuse to get Morales the easiest fight for a paper belt.

Casamayor accepted a fight with Freitas. So the WBC stripped him. The Freitas fight never even happen obviously, with Freitas taking on Diaz. So they stripped him for no reasonable reason.

Wouldn't worry about the WBO. The Guzman-Katsidis winner will probably take on Juan Diaz which is a great fight.

Right now the only fight that matters is JUAN Diaz v Casamayor, who still holds the Ring championship.

Diaz may well lose, that's the difference. Who the hell has Diaz beaten to suggest he's got the beating of Morales? I haven't seen him fight, but I would suspect he isn't a mover, and is a come forward pressure fighter who cannot bang, which would be tailor made for Morales at this stage of his career.

Thats not a good excuse for holding interim title fights when the reigning champ is active. Its outright larcerny. It allows the bodies to quadruple the amount of world title belts.

David Diaz beat Jose Armando Santa Cruz for the interim belt. Santa Cruz WAS a worthy holder of the belt.

I think this is being a little harsh on the WBC- lined up for the title so Morales could get an easy belt? So the WBC expected Morales to move up win, lose or draw vs Pacquiao. Diaz was signed to fight Santa Cruz before Morales and Pacquiao signed for the third meeting.

Problem with Guzman is he pisses off up in weight for the WBO titles. The guys he takes on are never considered The Man in the divisions he steps in. And he never hangs around long enough to cement himself as a champion.

Would've been nice if Scott Harrison had not pulled a sicknote. Then Guzman's body of work would be looking better.

Casamayor gets treated like shit. He seldom gets the benefit of the doubt if a close fight is (seemingly) in his favor. He gets stripped of his title after an excellent little comeback. To this day I can't see how Casa-Diamond was a draw.

Only clear loss I saw for Casa was the 2nd Corrales fight - and even then he made it agonisingly close with the knockdown & srong finish. Castillo fight was for me debatable. I mean with the closeness of the fight and Castillo's great finish it's tempting to say the Mexican won it. But you can make a good-ish case for Casa winning 6 or 7 rds.

Casa deserves way better than he gets.

so what, no one's going to take him seriously as champion. The anctioners all behave disgracefully. I mean with the IBF, what A-fighter will they strip in favor of a B-fighter next?

Maybe the WBO know something we don't i.e. that Juan Diaz will vacate.

It is a real mess but we should just narrow it down to Juan Diaz v Casamayor. That would save a lot of headaches.

I do agree.... I actually can make a case for Casamayor beating Corrales in that fight. The one in which I thought Joel lost was vs Castillo. The Kid Diamond decision was ludicurous.

Yes, he has been harshly dealt with again.... but its more Corrales' fault than the WBC's here. Corrales got whacked by Castillo but kept his title. The WBC called for the mandatory (Santa Cruz) but CORRALES didn't sign and didn't make his intentions clear regarding if he was too fight at Lightweight again. Santa Cruz wins the interim belt and loses it to Diaz BEFORE Casamayor vs Corrales 3.

Casamayor wins, but he should have faced his mandatory (now Diaz) by now. With all that messing around between Corrales and Castillo - the mandatory is now due.

Diaz Diaz was WBC INTERIM champion, BEFORE Casamayor beat Corrales and Santa Cruz was interim champion before that. Mandatory was due.

Morales also blamed his move to lightweight as why he lost to Raheem - which one do you believe?

Fact is Corrales should have dealt with Santa Cruz/Diaz before Casamayor or really Corrales vs Casamayor should have been a non title fight.
