Best Pacific island boxers

Post by oliverfennell »

In recent years, there's been Tua, Wolfgramm, Masoe, Po'uha, Meehan. Am I missing anybody else? And historically, who have been stand-out boxers from the Pacific islands (not inluding NZ)? And any decent ones from PNG?

Johnny Aba is the only world class fighter from PNG that I can recall.

Hadn't heard of him before, but that's a pretty good record. Arguably better than any other Oceanic boxers bar Tua.

What about Bowie Tupou? I remember hearing about him as a great prospect and I saw one of his fights and he looked allright but now it seems he isn't training with Lewis and has moved to the states and is training with Freddie Roach and has a fight lined up in California. His opposition was pretty shitty so hopefully he gets some good opponents in the states.
