Sosnowski v Ellis

Seen this one on the bill for 8th june bill.
Sosnowski has got to be one of the most protected heavies out there, so can Mathew Ellis upset him?

Hopefully. Matty is now with Black Country promoter PJ Rowson and has been promised a title shot in September or October if he can win this fight.

It all depends whether or not he has been training very hard. His last fight, a four-round decision over Chris Woollas in Dudley, showed that he still had the hand-speed but word was he didn’t do much training.

I reckon Ellis has a half-a-chance. I've seen Sosnowski live on several occasions and he has never impressed. Think the last time i saw him i was at the M.E.N, so probably undercard of Brodie-Chi II, and he outpointed Paul King.

Yeah well will be interesting to see if Elis has got himself into shape, otherwise he'll get stopped, as has happened before with him.

I was just thinking the same thing, he's been around the same level for years. And is no nearer a big fight. So why keep going?

It's not like he has a Tyson fight to aim for anymore. I always thought his record made him a classic "pension fight vs Tyson" candidate.

When i first saw Sosnowski (around 2000), i thought he had some potential, but he had that loss soon after, and he's never really progressed.

Mind you Ellis was always going to be up against it with all the unrealistic hype when he turned pro.

I remember that fight when Sosnowski was knocked out by James Cook a few years back – and he was literally knocked out, unconscious. His handlers obviously know his limitations so they probably think this is a safe fight against a fighter with a decent record. But I really think an in-shape Ellis can pull this off.

Never underestimate the determination of a hungry fighter.

Are they that short of quality heavies now in Poland?
I guess with the recent blowout of Bonin by Haye, there's not much hope for them.

Ellis seems to be out of the fight, but an interesting replacement is the unbeaten Frenchman Steve Herelius, who's been getting fairly decent reviews. His opposition has been on a par with Sosnowski's, but he does have a punch and maybe he could provide the upset.

I've never heard of Herelius, but looking at his record he seems to have a decent punch, at least puts away the lower level heavies when he should.

Might be a good fight this one, if Herelius has a good chin he stands a chance.

Herelius has been on a few Eurosport shows that have been shown here. His last fight topped the bill. Pretty hard to gauge cause his opponent was pretty hopeless, and I've still yet to see Snowiski fight.
