What does everyone think of the new hiring of Jim Millman as CEO and Executive Director of USA Boxing?
I hope he follows through with one of his first public statements which reads as follows:
“Amateur Boxing in the United States is a product of the efforts and dedication of the many Local Boxing Clubs and their members that operate the sport at the grass-roots level,” continued Millman. “I’m looking forward to working with the LBCs to strengthen the support they receive from USA Boxing’s National Office.”
Millman is or at least was a sponsorship/marketing guy so hopefully he can bet some major sponsorship deals and TV deals for USA Boxing. I hope he does so without giving up all control like the situation with A2P/Michael King.
USA Boxing hires a new CEO
USAB did not give up "all the control" to A2P. A2P was in a much better position to market and sell events than anyone, including staff, in many years. If Millman is micro managed like Mike Stone was, he won't be around for long. The BOD needs to stuff their egos and let the man see how effective he can be. Stay tuned.....
Yes, I understand the schedule was changed because of A2P. Of course, at the time all the plans were made, no one knew that USAB would get rid of A2P and/or that A2P would walk. USAB was stuck with a schedule they couldn't change. Too bad they ran off a man who could have marketed boxing in the right places to the right people. Stay tuned.....
