ITV are fools.

Post by s9s »

Just read a small piece in The Times, ITV have signed up the rights for Amir Khan exclusivly for the next year, this is the reason that warren has buggered off to Setanta with Calzaghe.

So, ITV give Khan terristrial exposure, in a years time, Warren will go to Sky or Setanta once he hs Khan on the minds of every UK household.

I can understand about not being interested in Calzaghe though, too many crap fights agaisnt middleweights, they must have thought Kessler is hardly a well known name in the UK (rightly so), so why waste money?

I'm afraid Calzaghe is not going to be the man everybody knows in boxing, win or lose against Kessler.

I think a big part of it is the fact JC's big fights will be shown in the early hours for US TV. ITV were very unhappy with the time of the Lacy fight.
Would be interested to see the detail of the contract though - ie what happens if Amir is beaten?

Yeah, because they weren't allowed to rip drunken people off with fixed game shows.

I doubt this. This fight isn't so dependant on US money because of Setanta's involvement. US TV's not even been sorted. IMO Calzaghe-Kessler will be normal time.
