Tarver or Woods???

Post by Marlin »

Who do we want to see in WA?

Both have their upsides. Woods is a very winnable fight for Green. To be honest I don't rate Woods at all and I would love to see Danny ice him!!!

Tarver is still a big name but he has slipped making this a fight Green might just win... It would also be awesome to say Green beat a man who beat Roy Jones Jr!!!

Either fight would be great to have in Aus but which would you prefer?

PS Seeing as we have many Western Australian's on here i was wondering if I can crash at someone's place when I fly over to watch this fight  :P

I'd rather see Green-Woods, especially seeing as Woods has one of the "big 3" world titles (even though they mean less and less these days). I really want to see Danny fight Woods, even if it is in the UK, although I don't think he'd win there if it went to the scorecards.

Good luck on finding somewhere to stay if the fight happens, unfortunately I live 300km out of Perth!

Either would be great. I live in Subiaco so I'd be there for sure.

I think I'd prefer Tarver, he's a bigger name and he's getting older and I've never rated him that highly, I think he is a very good fighter who took advantage of the fact that RJJ's skills had slipped, so I don't think he's anything special.

I got a spare bed if you're really desperate Jezz

I totally agree with your assessment of Tarver, he should be ripe for the picking :TU:

How much do you reckon it would cost to bring him out here???

PS I could use the spare bed mate :P

I'd also like to see Tarver out here. He certainly seems to have slipped and at 38 may well be at the end of the road. A win over him will mean more to the US (where the money is) than a win over Woods. As much as I'd love to see either of them out here, I doubt it's a realistic possibility.

green looked good last night, how good is he's jab....it tottaly kept griffin of his game. i would say a fight with woods, on paper its intriging and it would be massive if they managed to get him over to WA.
its funny how people still loove danny, and hate mundine, even after anthony beat him.
there was about 50 people at the club i watched it at and they were all cheering for danny. he's a great likeablr bloke and i really hope he can get woods over here for a world title fight

To be honest on their day I think both Woods and Tarver are better than Green and should be expected to out point him, but I think Tarver is getting real old fast and is ready to go, but Woods has the easier chin to get to.

In both I would think Green would be the underdog, but I think he could beat either. Either way it's intruiging. As for them coming to Perth.... Good luck with that.....

In Perth he is a massive show against both!

Oversea's it is the same story- he has to be clean and he has to KO them to win- simple as that.

Thanks for the offer mate, but sounds like Marlin needs it more! I've got family in Perth anyway, and to be honest, I'd probably get the fight on PPV instead.

Either Tarver or Woods vs Green would be great.

I don't think Green would beat Woods anyway. Green's workrate would be troublesome and he could run him pretty close. And the Aussie has been looking good at light heavy. But Woods may be a bit too big and savvy.

Yeah i tend to agree, Unless Woods actually stood and traded he would more than likely win by UD. Green needs a KO to win and against some of the best in the division that is hard to do.
I think Greens best shot is against Drews and if he could capture a title he and Briggs could have a really big fight in Perth for big money.

I'm not sure where all this is coming from? Woods is one of the most limited Champions out there! I see no reason why Green couldn't win on points if it was in Perth (aside from the fact Green would probably KHTFO before it goes to the cards).

Woods is by no means a slick boxer, he's not even close to being as good as Beyer (skill wise). Woods has a couple of 'lucky' wins over Johnson and a pumping at the hands of Roy Jones Jr... None of that tells me he will box circles around Green.

I hope this prediction goes along the same lines as Griffin upsetting Green  :P

Woods isnt great but he is a decent boxer and i wouldnt say worse than Beyer( Beyer was getting on when he beat Green in the Rematch). Green might beat him but i think he would need a KO.
Drews isnt great and has an ordinary chin so i think he is the best fight for Green.
Green is looking good and the win on the weekend was a good performance against a decent opponent.
Im a huge fan of Greens and have been to almost every fight here in Perth. He is a good fighter and has great heart in his fights.
I also heard him many times here in Perth say how he will KO Mundine and how Beyer was scared of a rematch and Mud does stick eventually.

Not first, if one of them can win a world title then it would big a pretty fight in Aus. Although most people like both Green and Briggs so they don't really want to see them square off against each other...

G'day mate,

I have met Green numerous times, he is a good bloke and I'm sure he would love to hear that he has a fan in Slovakia. He appreciates the support of all his fans and I reckon he would be quite chuffed that he has such a big fan so far away! If I bump into him again I will be sure to tell him :TU:

I hope you are talking about the first Beyer fight, because Green definitely lost the second. I had it to Beyer by 1 point, and I am a big Green fan. I've not met Green, but I am from Perth.

Just read today Tarver/Dawson a done deal 29-9-07. What does this mean for Danny? If Dawson wins which I'm sure he will; know way he comes to Australia after how Green dismantled Griffin. I think Green beats both these guys, but I like him fighting Dawson even better. Chads had three fights at Light-heavy and been down in two of them, and one of the fighters was Rich Hall???????

IMO Green should go for the winner of Woods-Johnson. Dawson has a very good chance of outboxing Danny, who would need a KO to win.

Yeah if Tarver isn't an option Woods is the way to go. When is Woods Johnson scheduled for? I know Glen is fighting Fred Moore today. Is there any chance Green Woods could be made before the Jonhson fight or does Clinton's next fight have to be Johnson???

I agree that Green lost the 2nd fight, but I don't know how you can say he definitly lost the second if you only had him losing by a point.

If I've got a bloke losing by a point I figure it's a fight that could go either way????? I suppose it was in Germany

I doubt that Kelly's people would go for it. Maybe down the track it could be an option, but I'd expect nothing but easy touches early on for Glen.
