cor dear me bit of Kahn bashing going on here aint there?

He merely admitted that he shouldnt have bene up so late signing photos and stuff the night before, as in its not professional / ideal prep and he has learned his lesson.

He also stated that he has watched the Limond fight 10 times and cant belive how many mistakes he made and each time he watches it he finds new errors.

Dont cherry pick chaps

Agree witht hat DG, but this was a big step in class for Khan lad is 20 years old and being written off in true British fashion, (build em up knock em down but boy do we love a likeable loser).

Cant think of any fighter who hasnt had blips (hopkins, nelson, haye could name a hundred fighters if we researched) the test is how you come back from that, he did pretty well to end up winning that fight and the next time he gets caught he will have that experience to call on.

You may think Im being pro Amir here, its not that I just think that this board is writing the lad off too soon, he hasnt even found his correct weight div yet and is still growing, he has fully developed so I say give the kid a chance, hopefully he will stop talking about world titles and concentrate on the next performance.

Good post, people look at the potential for Khan to lose but they ignore his potential to succeed. Yes he may come a cropper but hes already maybe the best athlete at 135 and he looks huge at the weight - this gives him a load of potential at world level.

If he tightens up and becomes very technically skilled he will be 1 of the best in the world. Look at Winky Wright, destroyed by Vasquez, tightens up technically and dominates P4P fighters.

Allot of us (me included) thought Hattons susceptability to eating right hands would make him a cropper against Tyszu but he changed his style to beat Tyszu. Yes Ricky has a better chin but Amir has better reach/height, which gives him the potential to have a very tricky defense at world level. Plus Amirs chin may come good, I don't think many thought Hatton would takes Tyszus shots after seeing him staggerred by Tackie, Philips and Magee but he did. Few thought Ali would take Listons shots after seeing him out against Cooper. Yes Khans chin may still come good

We've always done it, its partly our tabloids. But also partly an attitude of people that hates to see someone have something better than themselves because they don't try to do better themselves. I remember a few years ago having had a nice looking car for a few days a neighbour I never talked too out of jealousy decided to key the car.

I do understand people seeing top sports people as getting too much credit and success without having earned it but thats the way the business works

I agree with what you say, but with Amir, he has not shown me anything befire the Limond fight t suggest he would win anything outside the british, even then, he might not even win that.

He does not take or have a great punch. He gets stopped - limond could not punch according to his stats, PLUS he was such a small lightweight.

Khan should never have mouthed off like that, but he can come back from this, but he will never be a threat to the top boys in whatever division he is in.

I never thought he would be.

Winky was not destroyed, watch the fight, he slips pover most of the time.

5 times he went down, but he was not all over the shop os stunned lke amir.

Amirs knockdown was worse than all 5 winky ones put together.

Amir is not and never will be a Winky Wright.

This excuse making culture gets on my tits.

"OO I got knocked down because I stayed up late"

fornicate off you got knocked down because Limmond chinned you, just say you'll knuckle down and try to improve where you went wrong.

In fact Khans interview immediately after the fight seems more honest than this one after he's had a few days to contemplate and consult on how to restore his ''invincible' image. At least in that interview he basically said this is boxing, he is young and will improve blah blah...

Lucky he's a muslim or it would have been 'stayed up late AND had a few pints'....

It is a cultural thing that has been rinsed time and again by the tabloids in the UK. They stir everyone up into thinking England are the best football team in the whole world ever, then shoot all the players down when the team fails. It is the same with most sporting stars and celebrities.

Yes, I know that we can make our own minds up, but the power of the press is always underestimated!

Still, I'd rather look at things realistically than pretend Amir is the next coming of Ali. Tell it like it is... Amir was a huge prospect after the Commonwealth games and now all of a sudden he doesn't look so hot - those are the facts. This bad-press is just a by-product of all the hype he received via the press when he first turned pro, and Mr Warren wouldn't have had it any other way.

Amir is young, and still unbeaten, so he has a lot of time to improve. Whether he will or not... we'll have to wait and see. But I don't see a problem with people having a moan or speculating. The world would be a pretty silent place without it! :box:

Is Khan sure or what? If he was up so late signing posters, then that's HIS fault, HIS lookout. I've never heard such a feeble excuse. Totally ridiculous.

Khan should be more respectful & just admit he got caught. No two ways about it. Limond hurt him & hurt him badly. Amir showed courage by coming back.

It would be more classy for Khan to have said fair play to Limond, respecting the fact that he gave him a tough fight.

Khan needs to get real.

article attached as you can see he admits to his own failings, give it a rest now lads for crying out loud.

from the sun

AMIR KHAN has promised to cut back on late nights before he fights to make sure his career stays on track.

The new Commonwealth lightweight king received a wake-up call when he was decked for the first time in his 13 professional fights by Willie Limond.

His brush with defeat at the O2 Millennium Dome last week sparked a huge inquest into how his road to the top was being negotiated.

And Khan, 20, was the first to admit: “I’ve learnt a few harsh lesson. I have watched the fight video of me against Limond at least 10 times and each time I can see mistakes.

“But perhaps the biggest was staying up late the night before my fight with some of my mates in the hotel lobby.

“I was just chilling out but hundreds and hundreds of people wanted autographs and pictures and, like I normally do, I was happy to oblige.

“I thought I was young and could get away with staying up late but I realise now that I can’t.

“I need to maintain my focus on the bout ahead of me. So, in future, I’ll just stay in my room and speak to my pals there.”

Khan will be back in action at the Nottingham Arena on October 6 with Michael Gomez a possible opponent if the Manchester fighter agrees to move up a division to lightweight.

No one likes a big head. Khan, Audley, Eubank & Naz all had this attitude and most wanted to see them come a cropper. Ali was kind of this way, but there was comedy to his words, a lot of people didn’t like it, but that was more to do with him being black, than just cocky!

Hatton is a good example of what to be like, he always has a nice way about him and would conduct himself in a professional manor, and he didn’t need to mouth off! Most of us would like him to succeed.

Khan should get on with his job, stop biging himself up, and show us with his boxing not his mouth that he will be the best we have ever seen!

Its true, in any walk of life you big yourself up as 'the man' and come acroos dead cocky then people delight in your faliure...

Still, there are issues with Amirs style/chin, attitude problem or not

I completely agree with Amir, signing autographs can take a HELL of a lot out of you, more than most normal folk can ever appreciate.

Surely it's now time for his trainer to put his foot down and impose an autograph ban, for at least 2 weeks before all of Amir's fights?

Otherwise I dread to think what could happen!
