PUNCH POWER AND KILOGRAMS OF PRESSURE- WHAT GIVES?

According to one of those punch machines in arcades, i punch with 450 kgs of pressure, I weigh about 10 and a half stone.

can anyone make some sense of this for me?

1. Kilograms are measurements of mass not pressure. Pressure is measured in Pascals, and is given by....

2. ....force (Newtons) over a given area (square metres), so it depends on the area actually struck, which the machine can only guesstimate.

3. Its an arcade machine......

Theres a few of them in the bars round doncaster,
dont know how its measured but the high score is 921,
last night I got 872, but god knows how it measures,
I dont think it would be in lbs, because Hatton got 821lbs
of pressure in a recent test, and theres no way in hell
am i gonna reach that.

I think they're all calibrated differently too. I've played the same one (Sonic Blast Man, I think - the one where you lamp a photo of your mate's face) a few times down the years and the scores have differed quite dramatically.

ive used one in romford which is just a punchbag and got it to go 999 - i.e maxed out the display - and i was not the only one to do that, so they are obv for entertainment purposes only

The best guage of punch strength for amateurs is simply a punchbag, just see how far it moves when you hit it.

My neighbour has one, and he's about 160Ibs but very lean, he'll move the bag a few inches. I'll punch it a foot away (I'm 241 with a mini-beer belly).
