Dear friends,
some of you perhaps did read my chapter on boxing of my book "Europa, Mitteleuropa, Vaste Land", that devoted to the reconstruction of European titles between 1909-1914. Part of that material will be matter of an article I was requested to write down for "The Sports Historian", a prestigeous British journal for sport history at academic level. This time, however, I will focus more about the reconstruction which British Boxing Board of Council Yearbooks, edited by Barry Hugman, operated on British lineages, especially referring to pre-1914 period.
What I ask here is collaboration. Although I will remain unique titular of the article, I will acknowledge publicly the helpers and I will send copy of all the issue of "The Sports Historian". I forepoint that this will be published in Summer 2004. Maybe he/she could be reviewer of the article in fluent English, I am not mother tongue.
Since I have not all issues of BBBCY, should be a collaborator which has all, obligatorily 1986, 1987, 1996 and 1999. Moreover, if he/she has clips, photocopies of old journals of pre-1914 and other documentation should be better. I have few of that, while on books I have much.
Of course, he/she could object to the text and I will take into account his opinion, in mentioning over the text.
As people has understod, the canvas moves stating that in 1985 the Yearbook presented a list, that traditional list (Odd, Golesworthy, etc.), in 2003 presents a modified list. I remind for all the Jeptha's case. Books said continuously he was first colored champion of Britain (1907), Hugman and Alderman, on basis of two rounds matches, BUT AFTER 80 YEARS, purged Jeptha off the welterweight's lineage.
Personal correspondence with Hugman and Alderman will be inserted in the text, which I plan to outline during Christmas holidays.
Then, contact me privately

Thanks for attention
