REALITY SHOW: The Contender
On: ITV4 (120)
Date: Monday 24th September 2007 (starting in 12 days)
Time: 21:00 to 22:00 (1 hour long)

Third series following 16 aspiring boxers chosen from all over the US that will live, eat, sleep and train together with the aim of winning a million dollars.
(Exclusive to ITV4, Premiere)

Why on earth does anyone watch this drivel? Lets get some decent bouts on TV or at least some old classic british fights not seen since first broadcast. Would love to see Kaylor - Christie again

It draws in fans who possibly otherwise wouldnt watch boxing - that in itself has to be a good thing.

Kaylor v Christie was a hell of a fight and hardcore fans like us no doubt have it on dvd/tape to cherish, but it was hardly a good advert for the game: their pre fight scrapping, racist overtones and violence in the arena took away something from what was a cracking match up.

There was no violence in the arena. It was bonfire night and a firecracker went off in the crowd after Christie went down in the first, but it only added to the drama.
Both men were cheered from the ring.
Harry Mullan put a huge bet on the fight ending inside three rounds.
