wasn't there a slight conflict of interest for Oscar in this fight?

If GBP already knew they were building a megafight (in boxing & Money terms) in Hatton/Mayweather, isn't there a conflict of interest when the GBP chief fights Floyd, knowing a Floyd loss ruins the planned megafight?

Ok so you could say Oscar would have wanted to win anyway and he just takes Floyds place in an equally money-spinning matchup, but why should he? Oscar's a businessman first now, why go through the pain of training and then fighting a young buck like Hatton to make millions of dollars, when you could just take your foot off the gas for the last few rounds against PBF and make sure you don't accidentally win the fight and have to do it all again against Hatton.

Say Don King was 50 years younger, and had plans to promote Lewis/Holyfield, but was fighting Lewis first, would you trust Don to give 110% effort to win that fight knowing he could jeopardise the huge payday for DKP on the horizon?

Im not seeing the link between GBP and the fight being established PRIOR to the PBF-OSCAR fight... you have said that Hatton was talking to Mayweather 18 months, but when does GBP come into this? without GBP involvement prior to the fight, there is no conflict of interest.

Mayweather-Hatton is not a mega fight by Oscar Delahoya standards. It won't make more than Oscar-Mayweather and will probably gross a total close to Delahoya-Mayorga.

If Oscar wanted too he could have rematched Mayweather, which would make far more than Mayweather-Hatton.

If Oscar won the fight against Mayweather he could have fought Hatton, which stylistically is pretty easy for him to win by KO and have his career go out on a high note. Hatton is an easyish fight for Oscar because Oscar is so much bigger. 14lbs heavier, 5 inches taller, 8inches more reach, bigger puncher, faster hands.

Put it this way Oscar Delahoya-Vargas right now would possibly gross as much as Mayweather-Hatton.

For the record Hatton nearly lost the opportunity to fight Mayweather after they turned it down a few times in 2005 and 2006. If Oscar fought Mayweather again the opportunity would be gone pretty much.
