Something tells me that one Tom 'Bearcat' McMahon was a relative to promoter Jess McMahon...mind you, the implications of this, shows that the McMahon's tried to get a push over boxing, considering Jess promoted the biggest white hope fight in Willard-Johnson...and Tom McMahon was also a well known white hoper.
My theory is, Jess figured if Tom won the crown over Johnson, that the sky would be the limit for the McMahon's in boxing...unfortunately for them it didnt happen, and soon after Jess went into promoting the more lucrative business of rasslin'.
Are the two related?
