Limon vs Chacon.

Post by Rocky Balboa »

One of the best bouts I've ever seen. What a great fight this was. Anyone who has not seen it, I suggest you do asap. Chacon was down in the fourth & tenth, Limon down in final round.

Was voted FOTY for 1982.

For those who have seen the fight, how did you score it & what do you remember about the bout?

I remember it well. I just watched it a few months ago. It was a savage war with back & forth action. Don't really have an official scorecard. I slightly leaned to Limon, but nothing I was pissed about.

A ton of back and forth rounds. The crowd went apeshit in the 15th.

Chacon/Boza Edwards was another one.

This is my favourite fight, and to this day remains the most dramatic and exciting fight I have ever seen, and I have seen a LOT of fights! If I had to sum up this fight in one word, it would be a triumph of the human spirit, as Bobby dedicated this fight to his wife Valerie who had comitted suicide several months before.

He absolutely refused to lose that fight, and his will to win was frightening and yet beautifull to watch at the same time. Both men gave everything they had that night, and as a result produced a fight that will live on in boxing lore for as long as boxing is around.
