Jamie McKeever & Marc Callaghan
Jamie McKeever & Marc Callaghan
Jamie McKeever & Marc Callaghan have both decided to call it a day ive heard, these two where good honest fighters and gave 100%, I recall them both boxing each other in october 2000 at Everton park leisure center, won on points over 6 by McKeever by one point, it was a cracking fight with SkySport's Ian Darke making it a draw and Glenn McCory making it a win for Callaghan, and most of McKeevers home crowd thought Callaghan won, but it wasn't a decision you could argue over. Would be good to see them have a rematch and go out on their final fight againts each other as im sure it would be a crowd pleaser. Most of McKeevers fights are crowd pleasing battles and I remember seeing Callaghan againts Dazzo Williams over 8 and a rematch with Michael Hunter for the British title and what crowd pleasers, Hunter v Callaghan 2 was voted one of fights of the year by Boxing news. Hope these guys stay in the game some other way. These type of fighters often make the punters walk away from the show very happy and entertained but rarley are these boxers given the credit because they are not a 'name'
McKeever
I dont think McKeever has retired. He was working as a sparring partner for Derry Mathews a couple of weeks ago and was telling people that he was waiting for a date and was going to continue. Has there been a change in the last couple of weeks?
Totally agree. I wish them every luck in the futre.
You often hear fans moaning about protected boxers, with justifcation sometimes, but not these two. They each were prepared to get in there and have a go with anyone.
Mark and Jamie can look back on their careers and be very proud of what they achieved.
