Danny Williams exhibition 15th Nov
Danny Williams exhibition 15th Nov
I thought i've give my Boxrec brothers an early shout about a Danny Williams exhibition & Q&A.
It's happening at the Ring Gym (Cityboxer) 70 Ewer St, Southwak SE1 0NR on Thursday 15th November.
Danny will be doing 2x short exhibitions against Kevin Mitchell & Keith Long then the best of his fights will be shown on a big screen followed by a question & answer session.
There's a fully licensed bar & the doors open at 6.30.
£30 ringside, £20 outer ringside. Capacity is i'd guess around 100.
There will be an ad in tomorrows Boxing News but if you want to make sure you get in pm me.

That did occur to me but i didn't point it out, maybe there'll be ringcard girls wearing burkas to balance things out.rhino222 wrote:a muslim and a fully licenced bar......the 2 dont go together do they?
are there any bacon butties?
It's the cruiser Mitchell fortunately/unfortunately depending on your point of view.
Spencer tells me that Danny's weight is little over 17 so he must still have some ambition to have kept Mr Kipling at bay for this long.

With all due respect to apparently one of the nice guys of boxing..... but really - why would anyone want to pay to see this? We're hardly talking about Muhammad Ali here.... and highlights of his fights?MIKEE wrote:Im pondering itShirow wrote:I thought i've give my Boxrec brothers an early shout about a Danny Williams exhibition & Q&A.

What being Ko'd by AUdley HArrison for goodness sakes. Sure he beat Tyson, but so did Kevin McBride.
I'm afraid WIlliams is an average heavy, even at British level - Sprott, Harrison, Francis beat him, and he got battered by Klit and Sam...
The first question should be "why in Allah's name do you think you deserve a tribute night?"

Bruno has had the dough, not our fault if he has spunked it.

Actually this is rather interesting - I thought the BBBC only allowed one name to be used by only one pro. This was the reason Michael Gomez didn't call himself Michael Armstrong....oliverfennell wrote:I take it you mean the cruiserweight Kevin Mitchell rather than the super-feather!
Have they change this? Or did I just imagine this rule?

Yes, so I hear. But George, the local pisshead in my local is a genuine nice guy and funny to boot. He is also a world class drinker....
BUt I wouldn't want to pay £30 to watch him throw them back.
It hasn't changed, cruiserweight Mitchell retired before featherweight Mitchell came onto the scene.E wrote:Actually this is rather interesting - I thought the BBBC only allowed one name to be used by only one pro. There are a few cases of same names at the moment Andrew Lowe and SR Russell being two of them and of course Gomez and Spartacus.

That much to watch 2 exhibitions against retired pros?? Pure exercise at someone nicking a few quidShirow wrote:I thought i've give my Boxrec brothers an early shout about a Danny Williams exhibition & Q&A.

Exactly. I'd think long and hard about spending that much to watch Williams in a real fight after some of his previous debacles.chris s wrote:That much to watch 2 exhibitions against retired pros?? Something leads me to suspect that Spencer Fearon could be involved somewhere along the line.
To be fair, this is surely aimed at the fans and supporters of Danny Williams, and over the years Danny has provided plenty of entertainment for them. It sounds like they are being realistic with the seating capacity...100 odd places and not hiring out an oversized arena. I hope everyone who does attend has a good night, despite his off nights, Danny is a great guy and a good boxer.
