That would be a hell of a fight, i'd take Froch to steal it on pts, closer than it was v JC.

I'd take Kessler. I like Froch, but he's too lacklustre with his defenses and will get tagged one too many times against Kess.

I don't rate Kessler that highly.

I like Froch in this one and if he can stop him then we're talking, we're talking Calzaghe-Froch at 175 at Notts Forest ground or the Millenium

I'd MUCH rather see Calzaghe-Froch than Calzaghe-Woods

Same here. Woods has turned his career round in an amazing fashion, but doesn't have the class or draw to get in the ring with Calzaghe.

But if you were Calzaghe what is there to gain by fighting Froch?

Exactly. He doesn't bring money to the table, not as much as Hopkins v Pavlik.

Joe should be in Vegas, not Nottingham.

No offence to Carl, I feel he is the only guy out there to give Joe real problems, more so than B-Hop, Pavlik or Woods.

It would be a step backwards, and too dangerous

Joe has nothing more to prove at 168 - Having beaten a two belt world champion why would he fight Froch who still has to fight a current world class fighter and prove he is worthy of a crack at the ATG Calzaghe - A domestic fight at 175 against Woods maybe for the LH belt, but another defence at 168 would be crazy, especially a domestic fight, if Joe is having just two more fights and then retiring - You dont have a world title bout with Kessler and then take a step back to fight Froch for comparitively little money at Nottinham - Froch will get his chance of fighting for a title when Joe vacates but heaven help him if he fights Kessler - Kessler is without doubt the best after Joe so my guess is he will regain a title and aim to clean up.

I can see the two of them having a unification fight a couple of years down the road, I think Froch beats Bute for the IBF or whoever the manditory is for the WBC when Calzaghe vacates.

I think froch and Kesseler would be a totally different fight probbably more evenly matched but I think Froch may KO him and then shout his mouth off about beating him better than Joe did :-).

No way does Joe fight froch unless he stays around for 2 more years and they both have some kudos.

I think Kessler hammers Froch with his straight rights all night long.

Kessler would beat Froch handily, he'd land at will.

Joe and Kessler wouldn't have problems dealing with big mouth.

Froch wouldn't have the height advantage to do the leaning back then counter Roy Jones technique. His power comes from his flat footed style too so Kessler wouldn't have trouble hitting him.

I can't stand Carl Froch, I did warm to him at one point but he just won't stop banging on about Calzaghe!

Anyway that doesn't affect my opinion of his ability. I think he would be hugely dangerous for Kessler early in the fight but if he was unable to capture the initiative by the mid-stages I think that Kesslers accuracy would wear him down for a late stoppage.

The most interesting question is - who would be the puncher of the two?

It's tempting to imagine that it would be Froch, but has his punch really been tested on a world-class chin?

Kessler is too cultured for Lacy, a point win and maybe even a stoppage as Kessler wouldn't be able to miss Lacy who is about as mobile as a glacier.

Styles make fights and I'd give Froch a better chance vs Joe than I would vs Kessler. Froch wouldn't be able to bully Kessler who is a bigger Super Middle - Kessler is the quicker guy, with the better defence and similar power.

What Froch has in abudance, that Kessler didn't show on Saturday is killer instinct. I don't think it would be a major advantage vs Mikkel (cause I cannot see Froch buding Kessler) - however, it could be a factor vs Joe.

Froch is nowhere near Calzaghe's level he'd have very little chance.

Prior to the other night I would have given Froch a good chance, but now I think Kessler would have too much. Froch does have a potential equaliser in his power though, which is enough to take out any super middle in the world.

He hasnt been in a world class fight, so no - Kessler has speed, accuracy, defence, class and a good chin - Kessler is faster and would outbox Froch, and find his chin which he doesnt defend - This fight could well happen and if it does you will see Froch in a complete mess battered all over the place - It wont happen but Joe would have Froch diving into every corner of the ring with one of his tremendous onslaughts - I dont like the man and I dont rate him either - I dont have him beating Lacy,Bute or Mundine but maybe Inkin - As for Kessler he will come back even better and beat the lot.

If I'm honest I don't really know enough about Bute to rate him one way or the other. Lacy's yet to prove conclusively that he has recovered (psychologically) from the twelve-round torture he underwent at the hands of Joe and although Mundine's an improved fighter he did suffer the indignity of being counted out against Ottke, who isn't really a puncher. Additionally his widely publicised eye-problems do not auger well against a long-armed puncher like Froch. After all, a huge percentage of knockouts come from the ones they don't see coming. So I'm a little more cautious about dismissing his chances against any of the above. Conversely, Froch has yet to prove he is anything special either.

I do speculate though that he might find himself out of his depth against Kessler.

On Kessler coming back and cleaning out a post-Joe landscape. Can he really do it?
I ask not on account of ability, but I really think that people are underestimating how demoralizing his defeat to Joe might potentialy be.

Froch is SO overrated, that is not even funny... Wow, he beat Dodson and Tatevosyan...BIG DEAL. Tatavosyan fought 2 months after taking a massive beating from Bute, he wasn't ready to fight, even a welterweight would have dropped Tatevosyan that night. Froch mouths he can drop Bute...LOLLLLLLLLLLL Bute would eat him alive. He his the future of this division (ok Kessler is, if he is not moving to Light Heavy) but seriously, Froch mouths about everybody and is schduled to fight Grandpa Reid... I would love to see him challenge either Bute or Andrade...He would see what champs are made of, no Dodson or Reid...Comon Carl, let's be serious here, you are in the top 10 I give you that, but not even close to number 5...you are still long ways for a belt...at least a major one
