Are their any on line video links to the world amateur championships? I'd like to see them.

I don't believe so. AIBA events are usually well-regulated and security is a #1 priority. I can bet that if video cameras were not allowed, there weren't any there except those excepted (if any).

The TV rights to the World Championships were sold and the TV network can decide how much to show, what to show, and when to show it. They also are quite territorial and the rights they purchased. They may choose not to show all the early rounds of the tourney, but yet they do not want someone else to show it either.

Dennis, what TV network in the US bought the rights to the Worlds?

It was Fox that televised the finals so I'm assuming they are the network that bought the rights.

Ahhh - I was so underwhelmed with Fox's coverage, I forgot they aired Warren and Andrade's finals. Sigh.

Aren't you up past your bedtime? :box:

Yeah, but I'm talking to my daughter on the phone. She lives in Guam and they are 15 hours ahead of me (once daylight savings ends, otherwise it is 14 hours). Going to get to bed soon. Aren't you up past your bedtime?

My son-in-law is in the Air Force so they are stationed in Guam. It is hard being 8,000 miles away from them. I'm glad that we have modern technology though. Internet, e-mail, faxes, webcams, telephones, etc. The post office does a good job of getting packages to them in 5-7 days.

Here are some final bouts from the Worlds plus the Frankie Gavin-Alexey Tischenko fight. Thanks to this filipino guy we who missed it can see some action. I missed the 2 hours coverage on ESPN Latin America last monday :x .
I'm impressed with the speed and intensity of the bouts but heck, what ugly fights! Too much wrestling, it seems the boxers are getting too fast these days. They probably do good in going back to the 3-minute rounds.

Thanks Incoxelbox--the more I watch Gavin the more impressed I am,his hand and feet speed were incredible-he used the right lead to hold Alexei off and caught him everytime with the left cross and he refused to engage in close quarters and would not be bullied.Almost Cuban.

I don't believe AIBA is going back to 3 rounds again. The boxers are being allowed to hold and wrestle more - less emphasis on the refereeing and more on the judging. As you said, makes for some ugly fights.
