Any truth to the story that he beat Ray Leonard in sparring?

Don't knwo about that but he was considered to be a real shining star and it wouldn't surprise me. Not that I'd imagine he would beat Leonard in a real fight.

If I recall correctly Davis won the Val Barker trophy in the '76 games.He was THE star of the team.Sparring sessions are pretty meaningless in judging a fighter's career.
