Establishments Owned and Frequented By Fighters

Charley Johnston was one of Archie Moore's many managers(Jimmy,Charley's brother also handled him). Charley use to have a bar called the Sports Palace on lower Market St. in San Diego. It had pictures of Archie,Rocky Marciano,President Eisenhower,and the famous wrestler Jim Londos. By the time I got in there it was on its last legs. The neighborhood was getting old and run down. It was next to The Hollywood Theater,the last burlesque house in the US. It had the runway where the girls would do the strip tease(a la Sally Rand). I think some of the girls who were dancing there opened the place back in the 40's. I remember the house comedian,Eddy Ware. He kind of looked like Pinky Lee. The Johnston Bros. owned the burlesque house too.

Anyway,I know places like those two probably aren't around anymore. I always wanted to go to Jack Dempsey's in New York. Any places like that left or do I have to go to a strip bar? Any old memories out there?
