Hatton is starting to get annoying - COME ON MAYWEATHER.

Post by Maelstrom »

I'm going to say it. It's been building. I know you guys are going to shout me down for not being patriotic, but Hatton is well and truly getting on my nerves.

I have never, ever bought for a second this nice guy routine. 'They are all my mates, I have had a beer with all of them'. So what - HOW patronising. Check this quote out from the BBC site:

---- The Hitman said of his fans: "They don't just support me, they worship me. They feel like they're my mates. Half of them are my mates." ----

Jesus, talk about having tabs on yourself. Hatton plays up this image for the money. Man of the people? Those people would have loved you to have fought Junior Witter years ago mate.

Check out his actions, he is getting more up himself every day, talking in the third person.

And this stuff from Billy Graham about him being tired from media activity...... that's a direct result of Hatton and his father taking over his business affairs. Hatton wants to do every interview going because he has a share in the PPV revenues.

This is one Brit who wants the best 'boxer' to win. The techical, jawdropping, supremo that is Mayweather, not the slugging, aggressive brawler. Mayweather is honest about his business, he admits he loves money. Not our boy - he is just 'one of us'. Please.

And actually, my stance isn't unpatriotic. A boxer, one person, cannot claim to represent the 'whole' country, it is not like football where a team of the best are selected to represent us. This is one person, whom I have no time for, who's style I dont respect from another part of the country.

If Hatton wins I will be gutted. I admit it. There you go. Then everyone can continue to be conned by this nice guy personna when all he has every chased is the DOLLARS to pay for his BEER. And as for the way Matthew is riding along as well... DONT GET ME STARTED.

Bit of advice. NEVER DRINK STELLA BEFORE COMING ON BOXREC. But my opinion will be the same in the morning, I would just never have posted it!

Sometimes a boxer does represent the whole country
Of course most English people want Hatton to win sheerly out of
patriatism as im sure you would if this was an amatuer bout
in an olympic final regardless of the fighters!

Not if I didn't like him! I backed Khan, but I had seen Audley coming through even before the Olympics and wasn't particulalry keen on him winning that. I didn't like his style.....

I don't buy the nice guy act because of the way he has acted toward Witter however I want him to win cos I like Mayweather less (although he is a beutiful boxer to watch) I also think it'll be really good for the sport in this country and over all that is what I cair about because I like watching it and its the best sport in the world.

So if Hatton wins then who is the best boxer?

I agree with you 100% Maelstrom. I was supporting Floyd before all this but I've grown to really dislike Hatton this week.
In every bloody interview he says that he's just a normal guy. It feels like he has to reassure himself and justify to everyone all the time that he's 'normal'.

Plus Floyd ain't as bad as everyone makes out. Did you see the HBO replay of De La Hoya Mayweather last year? He came across as pretty humble there saying what a great champion De La Hoya was and how he'd like to fight him again. And if he's hanging out with the likes of 50 cent I'm not surprised he plays up a fair bit.

I was just listening to a report on the fight on 5live and quite amusingly the presentor seemed almost hurt by the prospect that the boxing corrispondent thought Hatton would lose.

Yep.. its got daft. I got in my car this morning and Hatton's mum was being interviewed. 'My Richard this, my Richard that. He's just a normal bloke'.

Bollocks. He has hawked himself around throughout his career to get the DOLLARS! Alledgedly, whom by the way I am not a fan off, got his Tszyu at the right time. Great matchmaking. THen what happens?

Your mate next door? Yep, the kind of the mate who would shag your missus.

'Boxer' - Mayweather
'Fighter/Brawler/Headbutter' - Hatton

No-one can seriously tell me that anyone matches Mayweathers 'skill'. Thats what I love to see.....

I can sort of see where you are coming from but I still don't come down on that side.

I guess it's about what lifts (or doesn't) your frock and clearly something in the way Hatton talks/looks/whatever rubs you up the wrong way.

I think it's equally valid to take a disproportionate dislike to Mayweathers bling bling persona which let's face it makes him look like more of a twat than Hatton could if he tried.

I like watching both to be honnest I like the sheer adrenalin you build up watching people who could fight in a phone box Ward Gatti :TU: however to watch a defencive master like early ali, or mayweather or bomber graham is brilliant and artistic and puts pay to the bollocks you always hear from people who think its just a sport about hurting other people.

Very good point Goz... but the thing with Mayweather is that he doesn't try to hide what he is.

You get what you see... brash, arrogant etc...... he loves it!

I love to see a top slick skillful boxer in action and I love to see a come forward brawler or pressure fighter.

Some people seem to have this 'I like skillful fighters so I want Mayweather to win and Hatton's style does not compute. Exterminate. Exterminate' attitude.

It's ok to appreciate a variety of styles guys.

Just because he doesn't try to hide it that doesn't make him any less of a cock!
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... &plindex=0

I'm not sure Mayweather has the brains to hide it.

All top level fighters are playing up to the cameras and media. Ali (flash and brash) had his way and DLH his way (Mr nice guy) and so on, all realised they needed to sell tickets.

Don't see why the focus on Hatton for a few innocuous comments about his fans. By all accounts people I know personally who have met Hatton testify he is a thoroughly decent bloke.

Mayweather is the most manufactured fight "personality" out there!

What I see when watching him, is a fake, with a pretty small IQ(see his interview straight after the Gatti fight or a certain interview just before it).

Go watch any episode of 24/7 Mayweather/DLH and then tell me Mayweather is "you get what you see".

It's ALL contrived bullshit.

You don't like Hatton, thats fair enough.
Why should'nt he play on the nice guy image?
Frank Bruno has done it for decades mate :TU:

For the record, of the few people I know who have met Hatton, they all say the same thing, he is a nice guy(he must stay in character 95% of the time  )
It's certainly worked for him if your right.Ask Witter what it's like to have no personality and a bitterness more suited to a scorned woman.
That angle don't pull into too much wedge...maybe he should become a man of the people too

looking at Hatton's behavior over the last 48 hrs the whole things has finally got to him, the weigh last night was cringe worthy, he made Mayweather look like he had a bit of class and that’s hard to do.

So let the patriotic mug punters carry on backing him as it is only pushing Mayweathers price out further, I will be having a substantial bet on him when the price drifts some more throughout today.
