Joe Cortez > Dave Parris

Post by JCS »

Dave Parris can not referee all of Hatton's fights. The typical referee should not allow upright "ground and pound" in a boxing match. Thank god no low blows occurred, or else there would've been a riot over that one. It is not the faults of ours, Cortez's, or Mayweather's, that Hatton has T-Rex arms and is utterly useless on the outside.

If you are going to fight on the inside, why not leave a few more inches between you and your opponent so you can get your shots off? Sure, Floyd did his fair share of clinching, but you would too if you had some sweaty guy trying to smother you with dryhumping in a boxing match.

Ahhh.. Floyd had the better of the referreeing, to be sure, but the sooner us Brits realise it didn't make a blind bit of difference to the outcome the better. Hatton didn't fight his best possible fight, Floyd was awesome. Simply as that. Really, even on his best night and with a more even run of the refereeing, I think Hatton's just a little bit small and not quite heavy hitting enough to beat Floyd. Let's just face up to it and move on.

I agree with Carbo...

May I say this though.. And it's just a few thinking points - i'm not the arguing type...

I think most of us feel that despite Cortez's less than impressive performance - Mayweather would have won anyway...

I don't see what relevance Dave Parris has in the grand scheme of things though? Our man was beat fair and square - and we wanted to moan a bit about the poor referee (in my eyes anyway) but we have not lost focus of the fact that Mayweather was/is the better fighter...

Why having a dig at the ref is riling some in the US though is a bit bemusing... I mean, people are moaning about Ricky's 'holding' etc, why can't they moan about Cortez..? And what's more, this area of the forum is evidently dominated by the British - so thus, the bias would always swing to another Brit and consequently, others should really not be getting riled by it.
