We just had one of - if not THE - biggest fight ever involving a Brit, and what did The Mirror have on the front page yesterday? Not the fight result, but "What Angelina said to Ricky - see page 8".
Our obsession with celebrity is over the top. Nothing against the papers for covering celeb news, cos they know their market, but I just despair at the people who make up this market.
I'd thought before that Ricky's prep before the fight wasn't ideal, but yesterday's Sun proved it, with all the famous people in his dressing room chatting before the fight chatting. How is that ideal preparation?

Regardless of that, all the talk of him hitting the weight one or two weeks before and him repeatedly saying how he was ready "right now" smacked of peaking early.
Perhaps four months was too long a camp, especially as he didn't have as much weight to shift this time.
