I hope this never happens. Hatton would get murdered, in my book he stands absolute'ly no chance of winning.

Hatton would never be in the fight. He does not have the power to trouble De La Hoya and it would just be a matter of time before De La Hoya took his head off.

De La Hoya is looking to retire on a win against a very popular/named fighter. It would be a mega-fight, certainly over here, and he'd get very well paid for it. It all makes sense from De La Hoya's view point.

I don't know about you fellas but these PART-TIME fighters with Big egos and Greedy ambitions are ruining the F_ucken sport...

DeLahoya - Hatton, Who needs it! Who wants it?

there are much better fights out there for Hatton Who Is Still an Active fighter (Witter), anyhow Oscar promised with Golden Boy that he would change & Clean - Up Boxing.

Well do it then and stop trying to 'ROB' legitimate ACTIVE fighters in the wait for their well earned Shots at Glory...F_cken retire Oscar and take the No.1 L-HW  (yeah right), BHop with yah!

that would be a stupid fight for Hatton, Oscar has been fighting with success at 154 and would have a huge power and reach advantage on Hatton, even Mayweather had to be weary of Oscar's power and speed and ate quite some jabs. Oscar always was very confortable against smaller, less powerful opponents, and would just wipe the floor with Hatton. Please Hatton, stay at 140...

If Hatton's greedy enough, to go out of the sport on his back twice, then more fool him.

Sometimes you have to think what's best for your career.

could still pack out wembley IMO!! :TU:

I couldn't think of a worse venue than Wembley, at least the Millenium Stadium has a roof and the stands are pretty steep.

Now I've never actually set foot inside the new Wembley, but from what I've read and been told by people who have been there, you are so far away from the action and that was for football. Imagine if it was 2 boxers at it in the middle of the pitch :o

I am completely against stadium fights. Without big screens and being so far back it's similar to knowing the result before you see the fight. Even with big arenas I don't think it's worth it unless you're within a short distance of the ring. The York Hall is the only place I've been where you can stand at the back and still see the fight.

Hmm it's a fair point , not that I've been to new Wembley. Obviously they'd start nearer the ring and build out , but if you're saying the view's not great, mainly cos it's flatter...........
The real point is WHY WEMBLEY AT ALL ?? FOR ANYTHING?? ok I know we have our traditions like the FA Cup and that........but having been to the Millenium Stadium I know how awesome it is. You're right the seats rise nicely so you'd get a great view, there's the roof (but I'm pretty sure Wembley has a roof too no ?........and above all it's still on the mainland so who gives a crap if it's not in England.

De La Hoya just wants to "CASH IN" on Hattons populatiry as a "national hero"...

THIS FIGHT WOULD BE A NO-WINNER for Hatton...

Ricky simply could not win this fight... (although he is a hard hitter, he's only a LIGHT-WELTERWEIGHT HARD HITTER).

De La Hoya is another Brawler... Another hard hitter... Who's traded blows up at MIDDLEWEIGHT with the best of them... He's fought Barnard Hopkins up at Middleweight!!! Hatton has no chance of winning...

This means, you've got:

A hard-hitting natural Light Welterweight VERSUS a hard-hitting natural Light-Middleweight... We all know who would win... The heavier brawler...

It's like putting Jake La Motta (middleweight) into the ring with Rocky Marciano (heavyweight).

DLH CAN BRAWL...when he decides to usually due to latin pride...
But make no mistake, Oscar is a boxer puncher who mostly relies on handspeed and masterful strategy and skill. Mayorga is a brawler, Hatton is a brawler, but certainly not Oscar.

I wouldn't favour Hatton in this one at all but it would be a great cashing out fight. He'd probably have to have another 5 or 6 fights to make the sort of money he could make fighting DLH next. He's already set for life but this fight would prob make him more than the Mayweather one.

Could Hatton be sold as a DLH opponent. I'm not sure 20,000 Brits would travel for it.

DLH, senility permitting, would batter Hatton in any fashion he chose. He's taller, bigger, stronger, quicker and hits harder. Has an iron chin, though he isn't keen on lefts to the ribs.

Everyone, but everyone would know that wouldn't they.

DLH v Cotto is far more likely, before DLH or Cotto v Mayweather late next year.

DLH uses his own PPV power to tempt rival fighters from other promoters.

Cotto could be another.

This won't happen now. Twice Hatton has boxed badly at welterweight and Oscar can't/won't drop below that and he can take a harder and deliver a harder shot than Mayweather - unless Hatton's solely after a payday then he should stay away from this or his legacy as a great British/English boxer will be tarnished by a bad loss to a shopworn De La Hoya in my opinion.

Forget Oscar for awhile yet, last thing he needs is a hard fight like that on the back of such a conclusive defeat - he'd probably get sparked again and that would pretty much be it. Plus it's not a very "super" fight now.

If they want to be smart, they should take on the light hitting New Yorker, Paul M, in NY for a high profile, probable win.

Then back to UK, and unify against Witter....yes yes, I know Ricky does NOT want this fight, but it's about fekking time, and he can put an end to the 5 year debate that's been raging about it in the UK. And make a fortune. And give the UK fans the best domestic match up since Benn/Eubank 1.

Malinaggi is a mobile opponent which concerns me.

However, he would sell out a New York venue, can talk the fight up and is very beatable.

It would also be better prep for any potential Witter fight than say a fight with Torres or Rees.

I think he may go for a Lightweight moving up for the IBO and Ring belts he still holds.

Juan Diaz would give him nightmares I reckon, smaller maybe, but one hell of an accurate punching pressure fighter. Could well see him ending Hattons' career.

Yes Malinaggi is very slippery, but might seem like a walk in the park after Floyd. But Ricky will now have trouble getting up for that type of fight I suppose.

And Rees....well the height difference might just make it a bit of a laughable spectacle, especially on HBO.

At least Hatton would have no trouble getting up for a fight with Witter, surely one man he definitely does not want to lose to.

PM moves like grease lightening, I don't think Hatton would look good or win.

Witter I think would stop Hatton. Too much poise and power.

I think Hatton will have been humbled by that last fight and will want no part of 147. There is still some interesting fights for him at 140 although not attention grabbers. Make a comeback against Ree's, do a title for title against Witter, take out Malignaggi and Torres and go out as unified champ with maybe finishing you career in an arena show against Amir Khan who should be at that level abouts by that time. Lot of domestic money in some of those fights.

I don't go along with the suggestions by Sugar Ray though that Hatton needs to reflect on his first defeat. I think too much emphasis is put on losses these days, the guy lost to the best fighter on the planet for Christ's sake, not Bobby Gunn. I think when Hatton does come back, he will still be the same come forward aggressive fighter he always was with maybe a little more consideration when rushing in. The defeat will not effect his mentality much I think.
