State Legislature honors Jordan

The Michigan State Legislature honored my son, Jordan Shimmell, by sending him a proclamation signed by State Senator Kuipers, State Representative Huizenga and Governor Granholm. They did this due to Jordan's success in winning the World Golden Gloves.

The Michigan amateur boxing association also gave Jordan its 2nd annual Michigan Boxer of the Year award. He was the winner for 2006 as well. I am proud that Jordan has done well and still stays humble. His goal in boxing is just to have fun. He gets embarassed by all the attention, but I think he deserves it for all his hard work and dedication.

I can only imagine how proud you are Dennis. That is the kind of stuff that just puts the icing on the cake of a great amateur career. Congrats to Jordan from both Fernando and I.
