Katsidis Vs Casamayer

Post by Sweet P »

What are peoples predictions for this upcoming fight, I think that Casa is the number 1 fighter at 135 and is a tougher fight than Diaz. I hope that Katsidis can win but it might be a too bigger jump from fighting the likes of Amonsot.

If Casamayor fights the same way he did on the Cotto/Mosley undercard then Katsidis has this in the bank.

Casa really wasn't very impressive against Santa Cruz but obviously he can fight a lot better than that. If Casa is on his game it will be a tough night for Katsidis (can I still call him Rocky?) but you can never write him off.

I reckon Casamayor lost the fight against Santa Cruz. Judges are judges though. If Casamayor finds the slippery form he used to have he will be hard to hit. But he is 36, and has fought some wars, it might not be in him anymore.

It Katsidis if Casamayor fights like he did agaist Santa Cruz but if Casamayor was just ring rusty he'll have to many smarts for Katsidis.

Like most, I reckon this one comes down to what Casamayor comes to the ring. If it's the one that fought Santa-Cruz recently then Kat should be able to outwork him pretty easily and get a decision. If Casa can re-capture his old form, the fight is his to lose IMO. He's a tough, dirty, slick and experienced boxer at or near his best and I think he'd have too much for Kat.

Casamayor is the best in that divison, I think if Kats wins people will say he beat a washed up fighter.....Thing is i cant really see him beating Casamayor - Toe 2 toe Cas is to skilled, and boxing on the outside Cas has to much class, Fighting on the inside Kats may have the edge.

Look forward to the rumble and hope it ends up like Corrales/Casamayor War.

What title are they fighting for? Casamayor is WBC champion, but the WBC has its next lightweight ttle fight as David Diaz v TBA. Katsidis is interim WBO champion and Juan Diaz is supposed to defend against him or relinquish the title. The WBO Lightweight Title is next being fought for between Juan Diaz and Nate Campbell.

WTF?

Let me see, now. The interim WBC champion fights the interim WBO champion. Does the winner become a dual organisation interim champion or do they make up another outfit?

I'M SO CONFUSED

I'm pretty sure Diaz gets stripped and Kat becomes full champion due to Diaz fighting Campbell next and not fulfilling his mandatory. Casamayor will lose his interim title for chasing the WBO title, but I believe is still linear champ (can anyone confirm?).

Yup still the Linear Champ and many feel he is still the best in the divison. Although Casa's performance against Santa Cruz and the fact Diaz has been on fire has some people questioning that claim...

Casamayor being WBC and lineal champ doesn't really mean anything. He kept them both via lucky decision whereas Diaz looks clearly the better fighter at this stage. If the judges had done their work properly, Casamayor would be an ageing ex champ.

Well hopefully Katsidis can take it out of the judges hands and put Casa in what you say is his rightful position...

This fight seems a big leap in class for Katsidis - I can see him winning this fight however - but a huge improvement is needed from his debut in Vegas, he was badly cut and extremely lucky to win that bout in such gun-hoe fashion :box:

He was cut badly but he still outlanded his opponent and deseved to win. As most people are saying this fight depends as much on which form of Casa shows up as anything else...

The fight is tommorrow Katsidis looks in good shape and is 133.5 pounds well under the limit of 135.
I predict a tough fight and hopefully Katsidis can keep Casamyor off balance and pressure him into slugging it out. If Casamyor gets to dictate the pace it could be a long boring UD loss for Katsidis.

Im hoping for Katsidis to come out strong and wear Casa down for a late TKO.( hopefully) :TU: :TU:

29.95 for this main event,

I haven't been this excited about watching a fight for a while, and for $30, bring it on. Too hard to pick the victor but I sure hope Katsidis pulls it off.

What a great fight! Unfortunately Katsidis was dropped twice in the first round but came back and dropped Casa in the 5 or 6 round. Casa lost a point for low blow. Then in the 10th Kat got flattened by a left, got up made the count, got caught again and the ref stepped in and stopped the fight.

Katsidis threw away this fight by being to aggressive in the 10th, He had got the lead and could have won on the scorecards if not for a rush of blood. Anyway no harm in losing to one of the best 135 pounders for a long time and Olmypic gold medalist also.
Katsidis did us proud and will learn greatly from this fight, At times he was outboxing Joel which was a suprise.
