Rinty Monaghan was only KOed once in 66 fights, that being by Jackie paterson of Scotland. He later KOed Paterson twice.

Rinty probably found the KO loss embarrassing, as it was only Paterson's second pro fight.

rinty never faced truly world class hitters. sharkey did and was knocked cold by bob fitzsimmons (cornwall) with one punch . .

not so easy a pick !

Does Irish American count? If so Irish Jerry Quarry gets my vote. The only time I saw him down is when he "stumbled down" against Chuvalo. Quarry's OK. He's taking a knee looking at the ref,but for some unexplainable reason gets up at 11. He was winning the fight.

Quarry was in with some big sluggers:Frazier(twice),Norton(twice),Mac Foster,Earnie Shavers(he almost bled to death against those guys)but none of them could put him down

It's been awhile, but I could swear Quarry was done from a bodyshot in the 2nd bout with Frazier.

I believe you're right. I do remember Quarry doubling over from a body shot. It probably was delivered by Frazier
