Can't agree with Murray as No 1 - I rate Khan and Fewkes above him. Murray seems to have incredibly limited head movement and takes too many shots for my liking.

Its a good list although I think Murray is too experienced to appear on it.

You could argue with the positioning of some but all in all no complaints from me!

Tommy Costello is one of the best there: a really classy, exciting young fighter with a good team around him. Signing a four-fight promotional deal with Frank W arren will also get him more exposure around the country.

Your missing out on one of the best, however – Kevin Concepcion, 8-0 (2), who has only been a pro for 15 months yet beat Darren Rhodes (who fought in a British title eliminator earlier in 2007) in five rounds, albeit on a cut, last time out.

Concepcion has yet to concede a single round so far.

Although he may lack the one-punch power of his brother, Kevin is better-schooled (former NABC National amateur champion), takes his time and breaks his opponents down bit by bit. He has showed a decent chin so far and faces his first international opponent in Leicester in February.

Kevin has an aura around him, like he knows where he is going – the top.

I also expect Walsall’s Martin Gethin, 11-0-1 (5) and Midland Area lightweight boss, and Wolverhampton’s Dean Harrison, 10-0 (2), both of whom won by stoppage in Vegas in December, to make waves in the next 12 months.

Gethin is being lined up for an English title fight during 2008.

It's a good list Jake but what's your criteria? Why Murray, but no Khan, for example?

Good points Tom - repping the Midlands boys as always - keep it up mate

I agree on Gethin - the lad is class although few will have had a chance to see him as yet. Same goes for Costello - he will make some waves over the next couple of years.

Not as sold on Harrison yet, the couple of times I have seen him he ha looked good but I have seen the potential you do - time will tell with im I supppose.

Not seen Kevin box yet - have only followed him through your reports. Look forward to seeing him in 2008.

i think kell brook will have a good 2008, i rate his chances against anderson or mcintyre highly it would be tough but i think hed beat either of them.
anyone else a brook fan or is it just me?

Errol was talking about Gethin against Lee Meager for the end of 2008. That would be some fight.

I've always said that Martin does just enough to get by at a low level but he fought a decent, heavier puncher in Vegas, 21-5-4 (12) Fabian Luque, and battered him until he decided to close the show in round five.

Luque is a natural welterweight whilst Gethin is a lightweight.

Harrison is, for me at least, the type of boxer who will really show his class when he is stepped up to the next level. He is self-critical (always a good sign) and put in a good performance to stop a tough fighter in Ramon Guevera, who'd stopped undefeated Jorge Paez Jr, in Las Vegas.

He, as i'm sure you are aware, is very well-schooled, mixes punches between head and body and is never in a rush to try and blow anyone out of there. I honestly think he could win the British title.

Completely agree with 14. RICKY OWEN.

Will be a fantastic year for him.
Been in the shadows somewhat of fellow Swansea fighter Damian Owen, Who has been really exciting, I think it will be make or break for him this year as he needs to put some solid performances together to further his already promising career. A loss to another poor fighter and the outlook is not good.

But as for Ricky he will go from strength to strength.

I've been impressed with Akaash Bhatia so far, he's not a big puncher, but i think that will develope a bit more soon.

He has had some pesonal issues that I know of, but won't discuss on here, not really fair. He has also had a few problems with the law, but I am sure that most of that is down to local door staff etc., trying their luck with a pro boxer. I don't think Danny is a trouble maker at all.

i agree i watched harrison fight in vegas and he looked 1 of the best out of them all he's defiently 1 to watch.

YES TERRY D DENTON COULD BE GOOD BUT HIS LAST FIGHT HE LOOKED SHIT I WAS THERE ANY GOOD BOXERS WILL PICK DENTON OFF FOR FUN. DENTON IS A GOOD KID HE GOT POWER,FITNESS & HES STRONG THATS IT BUT TIME WILL TELL. (GOOD LUCK TO HIM)

He is very good. Hits really hard aswell. With the right training could be a future british champ, still young - 25

There is a few i think u have missed martin murray is defo one to watch really good, think brian rose and jack arnfield will be a force to be reckoned with too,also johnny rocco is a very good boxer still not shown what he is capable of also johnathon kays and chris johnson are looking very improved too.

Yes I really hope this is the year for Kell. He didnt have a great year last year so hopefully this year he will win a title, get some spotlight and show us what he's made of.

Denton is a good prospect and should definitely be in the list. I've not seen him box live often, one time only, but have watched him spar as an amateur and a pro. He is definitely a good prospect and has a great attitude to the sport.

His idol is Mike Tyson and he likes to use certain Tyson signature moves but he also asks, after sparring, what he can do to improve and what kind of weaknesses his style will bring.

I passed him a bunch of tapes and he did not just want Tyson, he wanted tapes of guys who could throw the kinds of jab that wil give him problem, slick boxers and southpaws like Hagler. He has a good attitude, good power and is always working hard in the gym. Hopefully 2008 can see him push on even more under the guidance of Bob Shannon.

I saw Bob and Denton on seconds out where Bob was appealing for a sponsor so he can take Denton and few of the lads from the gym to the Mayweather gym in America. Do you know if he got a sponsor?.
