Witter v Hopkins

Word from 5live is that this could happen on March 22nd in Atlantic City. Opinions? Good fight for Witter I think. Gets him some exposure in the US, might help him in his search for the Hatton fight

Good if it is on TV..... needs US TV.

Still think Castillo is the better option, but this is more winnable.

Rees Kotelnik schedueled for March in Cardiff as well. I think the Witter fight would be part of the Casamayor/Katsidis fight as both Hopkins and Witter are promoted by Goldenboy so almost definitely would get TV coverage

Would still depend on the scheduling - if there was a big bill (PPV) the week before in the states... then they could replay that and only show the main event. Like they did with fights like Corrales vs Freitas (no other fights shown, just a replay of Williams vs Tyson).

Is Witter definately still under GBP. They weren't involved with the Harris fight, although might've been because it was in the UK, and their website isn't the best at being updated for fighters under contract (Ibragimov isn't a GBP fighter anymore I don't think).

Well it could depend on what they consider the main event out of the Hopkins vs Witter or Cas vs Katisdis fight then. They'll definately repeat Pac vs JMM.

Hopkins has the right family name to shoot Witter into those big fights

He couldn't beat Forbes, in reality, so Witter will stop him if he's in the mood or win on points provided it's not the same judges as Hopkins had against Forbes.

Well I guess it is a good fight to keep Witter ticking along and get US exposure, (particulalry from the name), but its no blockbuster.

His long time nemesis has been in with Mayweather recently and other big named are being discussed.

This however, would just be another ticking along job for Witter.

This would be about giving Demetrius his only possible shot - and one he wont be able to take against Witter. He's too good....

But when will JW get his big, defining fight. The one that is going to raise him from mediocre purses for a WBC champ to six figures. Perhaps as an earlier poster suggested, Castillo was the better option?

I'm starting to get worried about Froch as well. When is his big chance coming?

hopkins likes fighting at his own pace from long range.

He was on saying he will fight Inkin as the WBC eliminator. If he wins that then he has plenty of options, and depending on whether Calzaghe dumps the WBC belt, he would become holder. If he didn't then Froch would be mandatory.
