I've been talking to Cliff about this fighting in to Oz thing for over a week or so now and He told me that he would like to have a few fights down here. Maybe if a promotor would show some interest we could see him in with some of our best, Big Bob Mirovic, Alex Leapai or Mark de Mori, Maybe even a warm up fight with the likes of Nathan Briggs, Michael Kirby, Solomon Haumono, Col Wilson or even John Hopoate.

I think Cliff Couser would be good for the Australian Heavyweight division and would like to see someone back him! Get him over here and in the ring.

i met cliff and had a chat with him in usa after his ko over monte barret.

promoters simply cannot afford to pay airfares for a fight unless the name they bring will guarantee big ticket sales

i suggest cliff direct his attention towards shane cameron whos team has the money and following to make it work

That is pretty much what I was thinking mate. Perhaps if he is serious about having a few fights here he could come himself and shack up with Emanuel Augustus for a while...

How do you think a fight between you two would go Mark?

A fight against Kali would be big, although I don't see why Kali would take it? If it was a co-feature on a Green or Mundine card then it would create a big night of boxing that may attract overseas PPV. The same, to a lesser extent, would apply to Shane Cameron.

Kali Meehan is rated No 4 contender by the WBA. I doubt that Cliff couser would be considered as a suitable opponent, his recent record is too poor.
Hopoate and Haumono would be more likely. I somehow think Kali will be mostly fighting in the States now anyway.

Cameron needs a comeback opponent a guy with a bit of a name, a reasonable record and someone Shane could put away inside the distance would be suitable. Cliff fits that bill nicely!

Couser is a bit of a shortarse. 178cm is short for a heavyweight, and he has been KOed seven times, so his chin is a bit suspect (or he is a bleeder) and he is 36 years old. I think Cameron would make fairly short work of him.

Which is why hes the right guy from Cameron right now. We all saw what a tough, durable guy with reasonable power and a good chin can do to Cameron in his last fight cutting him to pieces then knocking him out. Cant say they will be looking for another opponent like that again in a hurry. So step up Couser.

I actually think Cliff could be used for ticket sales - run with the whole Tyson lookalike bit, pretty sure he has claimed to be Tysons half brother in the past aswell. And of course he starred as Mike Tyson in the Don King movie.
Get him a few radio spots and tell him to talk like Tyson.
Like I said pretty sure he could shift some tickets.

It is on the Mundine/Soliman bill. Solo will KO Shortarse in short order.

He might, but it's a good step forward for Solo. Isn't that what everyone is looking forward to? Couser has fough ex-world champs and at least has excellent experience.

His last three fights have not totaled six rounds, he was KOed three times. He should be a cruiser.

I would love to see Couser fight down here. BUT..who...and what shows do we have that would be able to do it these days.

maybe if he wanted to fight on one of the bigger MMA shows ? maybe a bit of a pay cut, but he'd get airfares, accom and no doubt a decentish purse.

Brute summed it up a few posts ago. last 3 fights, been loed 3 times in only six rounds. The only saving grace is he has been in with some very talented boxers. The last three guys are all world class heavyweights. The perfect fight for Solo I hope.

Probably a fair assessment. The same as the last bloke he fought (i.e. had been in with good opp), should be a win for Solo and better than fighting Alex Mene again...
