Henry Cooper was a Brownsville Heavyweight from 1935-1946. He died in a tragic accident in 1947 while working on a ship as a stevedore, falling overboard and drowning. He fought all the leading heavyweights and Light Heavyweights such as Billy Conn, Melio Betinna, Tami Mauriello, Joey Maxim. Also was a sparring partner for Max Schmeling (1st Louis fight in 1936) and Jim Braddock (Louis title fight in 1937)

SEMI PRO IS REALLY A PRO AT FOUR ROUND LEVEL. IN CUBA THE TERM WAS USED DURING 20'S AND 30'S FOR PRO FIGHTERS AT FOUR ROUND LEVEL WITH VERY FEW FIGHTS - SOMETHING LIKE THE NOVICE DIVISION OF THE GOLDEN GLOVES- BUT IN REALITY THEY WERE ALL PROS.
