not just beckham stuck on 99.. !!!
not just beckham stuck on 99.. !!!
ojay abrahams is still stuck on 99 fights, 11 months now since he last fought, im convinced the promotors have a pact out that is detriment to him reaching the milestone.
what do you guys feel, i know we have covered this topic before but as time goes on it will become more and more difficult for ojay to get a fight !!

On this same note, Danny Thorpe is now only five away from his century and deserves a mention. The 30-year-old works full-time as an engineer, has two kids (a third on the way in July) and probably won't continue once he makes it to 100.
"It's finding the time for the training," said the lucid, virtually unmarked Sheffield man.
Danny hails Amir Khan as the best fighter he's fought. "Extraordinarily fast, super fast - the only man I can compare him to is Naz (whom he sparred with)." He rates Kevin Mitchell as the second best. His best win is over former Commonwealth Games gold medallist Haider Ali. As for his final fight, he wants to bow out in the same way he got there.
"I'd rather do well against someone good than beat someone not so good," says Danny, who enjoys a special bond with trainer Dave Coldwell, currently opening a new gym.

Anthony Hanna is also stuck on 99. He certainly deserves a mention after a career that has seen him win the Midland Area title, challenge for the British and Commonwealth belts and upset touted Nicky Booth and Jackson Williams.
He has only been halted twice– former Commonwealth champion Darren Fifield (1992) and Ricky Owen (2007) – in a 16-year pro career. Tony has earned his stripes and would be nice for him to reach the century.

Good calls all of them. Plus Peter Dunn who recently hit the 100 mark. Spoke to Peter a few times at shows and he is a really nice, approachable guy and always gives his best.
He was robbed in his last but one fight against Damian Taggart on the Duddy-Eastman undercard. But he just turned away and walked back to his corner without complaining. The ultimate pro...or maybe someone who doesn't expect to win anymore!

Although those days may be changing- it seems now that foreign fighters are being draft in, to be knocked out in a couple of rounds - I can only assume they are cheaper.oliverfennell wrote:

What went wrong for him on Saturday? From the look of it, something had hurt him, and he just squatted down and failed to make the ten count.Bennie wrote:On this same note, Danny Thorpe is now only five away from his century and deserves a mention. so...the question is, due to some alleged historical upset with a promoter, have the promoters got together, united, and decided not to offer mr abrahams his ton??
i was ringside when he 'retired' after one round with darren barker with an elleged injury. i thought it was a disgusting 'purse grabbing' effort !!!
im led to believe mr abrahams did not show at the arena till less than half hour before his bout !!

Apparently, its now official that Ojay Abrahams will be making his 100th fight in June!!rhino222 wrote:ojay abrahams is still stuck on 99 fights, 11 months now since he last fought, im convinced the promotors have a pact out that is detriment to him reaching the milestone.

Lets hope that his opponent isnt offered more money by another promoter for another fight that same night (we all know that it happens!!)
Nah he knew I had a fag and a beer waitting for him outside lol.steve689 wrote:Good calls all of them. Plus Peter Dunn who recently hit the 100 mark. Spoke to Peter a few times at shows and he is a really nice, approachable guy and always gives his best.

Peter has made a good living from being a teacher in the ring with the younger up and comming fighters but I do ask myself at times if he had more fights that he "was allowed" to win could he have ever moveed on to bigger things? Peter did own a bar of a while and did spend most of his wages there while still fighting? If things where different could ha have done more?

You know how the sport works and how fickle matchmakers/promoters can be - OJ may have upset a few people along the way and as such he is paying the price now.
I hope someone out there gets him a fight - OJ has done a lot for the sport and is a real colourful character - some of his ring entrances are class - the way he poses on the edge of the ring winds a few people up.

yes, but his ring entrance often last longer than his ring effort.. !!Spud wrote:Politics Rhino!!!rhino222 wrote:ojay abrahams is still stuck on 99 fights, 11 months now since he last fought, im convinced the promotors have a pact out that is detriment to him reaching the milestone.

Whats up Rhino? Why are you so bitter against Ojay? What has he ever done to anyone eh? The man has finally got his 100th fight, so that discredits your first post!!
Ojay has had 99 fights, check his record, how many times has he retired due to an injury? Let me tell you how many.. two times in a 17 year career!! Ojay doesnt duck from anyone, He's a blown up weltherweight, and he is known for getting in the ring with just about anyone.. look at the opponents he has fought (super middles) .. Howard Eastman, Ryan Rhodes, Wayne Alexander, Darren Dyer, McCresh, Freeman Barr, Carl Froch.. to name but a few....

and as for discredits, he posted that at the start of February, its now mid-april, so its hardly like he made the claim this morning.
