Carl Johanneson ??

Post by hitterwitter »

A couple of questions:

1. Who's training him for the mitchell fight? is it frank maloney again??

2. Has there been any updates from the training camp? Didn't he have weight problems for the first fight, thats why it was cancelled?

Is this fight for the British and Commonwealth titles?

Or just the British?

I'm pretty sure Mitchell wins, but not too sure Carl is gonna turn up...hope so. And if he does, FW should give this the hard sell to Showtime, as there's a good chance main event ends early, and you'd think this one was made for American TV - and the winner could be a bit of a hit with the US viewers.

what proof do you have to this statement, Johanneson may the weight first time and looked better than he has for a long time. The rumour is the he is training behind closed door and all is well. With first class sparring partners also has his weight been monitered by the bbbof c. And if you say some bookmaker are giving 3/1 on Johanneson thats not bad as Mitchell has never be tested.

Good point who has Mitchell fought? We know about Carl, first class at British level but has a bogeyman at Euro who has beaten him twice. Could Mitchell beat Gomez? I dont think he could if Gomez was on form.

martin williams and frank maloney r training carl 4 this one as they did the gomez fight.

it was cancelled first time round because carl had a back injury, there has been lots of speculation arround the back injury especially frm mitchells camp but it was on williams advice that the fight was posponed carl wanted to go ahead with it. no problems with him making the weight nor were there problems at christmas when the fight was origionally posponed. the weigh in is tonight at 9pm "i think" :TU:

No way Carl should lose this. Carl has an excellent and powerful right hand and Kevin Mitchell eats about a 100 each fight. Just keep it nice and tight and he should nail him with it all night.

someone called betdirect on internet got Johanneson 3 - 1 which looks generous. Mitchell 1 - 5 on. I might just take some of that Johanneson money as it's nowhere near as clear cut as they make out.

i think Mitchell will look to dominate early and be in control from the first round, not let Carl get warmed up (which is the idea anyway is it not?) and look to bomb Carl out but I can't see it being so straightforward.

Mitchell is defo gonna have to eat some leather and I'm not convinced he'll get through it as Carl can crack. This contest would have stood on it's own there would be much more banter on here but as it is it's a great, not to mention meaningful addition to Haye and Macc.

Mitchell always loses his rag after taking a right hand. This is Johanesson's best chance of winning. Mitchell's temperament after taking a shot that hurts. If Mitchell has fixed this, I go for Mitchell. If not I think Carl maybe grinds him down.

Carl is going to beat Mitchell. OK he has one bogeyman who he has twice lost to but apart from that he has a first class record. The Gomez fight was a real tough one. Couldnt see Mitchell getting a win over Gomez but Carl managed it. Gomez was good that night and came to win.

mitchell will counter carl bigtime i think.

he might have some early problems.

but i see mitchell taking control by the middle rds and maybe drumming out a mid to late stoppage. :box:

I think Kevin Mitchell will win this one...

Carl is a threat but one I personally believe, is not quite good enough to step beyond British Level at any stage whilst Kevin may just have that something extra.

I don't rate Mitchell - but I think CJ is on the slide.

I want CJ to tump him down!

This is a terrific fight, lost in the Enzo/Haye build up - if this was the only fight tonight, we'd have a 5 page thread on this - a classic cross roads Brit fight - the up & comer taking on the seasoned champ.

Think Mitchell will shine tonight, and take the title off CJ - might go the distance this - but if Mitchell wins early, he's on the way.

I think Carl just has to watch getting caught early, not that I think Mitchell can punch, just Carls been done a few times like that. Over the course of a 12 round fight I just don't see how Carl misses him with his right hand.

I still can't make up my mind about Mitchell, but his liking for a 'tear-up' could cost him dear in this one. I think Carl wins in 7 but I say it with no degree of certainty...

Only a minute in, but Mitchell's looking sharper than I've ever seen him. Lovely double jab and mixing in some nice body shots. Early days though...
