At a recent dinner & talk event the main attraction demanded 15k off the promoters before he would get on stage and then charged £20 a photograph.

I go to a lot of those dinner shows and 15-20 quid seems to be the norm for photos, although you can't be sure if its the promoter or the boxer setting those prices

I believe the answer is one Richard Hatton.

personally I would never, and question th eself respect of anyone who would, pay any man 20 quid for his autograph. . . . in as much as to say I wouldn't pay 10 pence (unless of course there was a charity angle of course then sure why not the odd 20 quid here and there).

maybe a Paul Ingle or a top geezer who had maybe nowhere left to turn but if it's for some greed merchant they could keep their sh*tty nick nacks and I'll keep my own dignity thanks.

I don't know how they have the gall to stand and trouser 20 quid notes for a scribble. I know the pics have got to be actually paid for but the mark up stinks of greed.

Is it not more common now for "famous" people to charge for the autographs they give? The reason being that so many of them end up on EBay. I seem to remember reading Joe Frazier charges for his autograph for this reason. Not that I agree with this practice but it seems as though the action of some people has spolied this.

I happily paid a tenner to have my photo taken with Duran.....when he was over here.

But we're talking about a legend, and it was a photo, not autograph.

It was Hatton, he got out of the motor and demanded 15k which was more than had been initially agreed for his fee or he was off, then after he done his talk which had very little boxing involved in it as he tried to be a stand up comedian it was £20 for a photo or £40 if you wanted it signed.
