Friday 14 March Kedron Wavell - Buckle Up for the Knuckle Up

Post by RedCornerPromotions »

ACE Boxing Promotions presents
---Burning Desire---Friday 14 March ---Kedron Wavell---
Tickets call 3359 9122 or tables Brian on 0418 960 972

Never have Brisbane Boxing fans had it so good.
3 Main event fights for the price of one!

Alex LionHeart Leapai defends his OPBF Heavyweight title against the current NSW Champion Michael Kirby. This is the first defence for Leapai who won the title in November last year.

Kirby is coming to town with only one thought in mind though so Leapai needs to be on fire. The NSW Champion Kirby has 5 wins from 5 starts as a professional and is rpaidly gaining respect within the Australian Heavyweight ranks.

The Little BIG MAN Chris McCullen is back in a Brisbane boxing ring after a lengthy time away whilst he focussed on training his amateur team.

He is stepping straight into an Australian Title Challenge against John Cotterill Jnr.

This fight has many divided over who will take the title. Expect the "Little Big Man" to be at the top of his game depite the lengthy layoff.

Despite his last fight loss to now OPBF Champion Alex Leapai, Nathan Briggs has found new form and will take his first steps back to the top when he fights Kiwi Sam "Juiceman" Leuii.
Other fights:
Jason Hartmann V Terry Lambert
Mick Shaw V Jim Savage
James Ellis V Masoud Abeollpoura
To book your tickets call Kedron Wavell Services on 3359 9122
For tables call Brian on 0418 960 972

Is it on TV? Last night there were three cards on in Australia, two in Sydney and one in Melbourne. One program featured an IBF Regional Title. What did Fox 3 show? Basketball. Basketball from 7pm to midnight. Fox 1 had a stack of golf programs (Is golf really a sport? I thought it was something my brother did on Sunday to to sweat out all the beer he drank during the week, and make room for more.) Fox 2 had motorsport (lots of athleticism there) and a rugby game with no Australian teams in it.

OK, there was nobody fighting likely to be a World Champion, but Friday night is usually the fight fan's compensation for all the one day cricket, foreign football and such shown during the week. A few willing young blokes having a go, that's all we ask. Are we pariahs of cable or something?

That is a good card. Makes some solid match-ups. Might not travel up to watch it live, but wouldn't miss it on TV.

Is it that FOX isn't interested in boxing or are the promoters not trying to sell the rights?

There is a "Big Time Boxing" card at 9.30pm on Friday, 14/3. I do not know who is on it.

If its advertised as live, it should be this card. I don't think there any other major promotions on Friday

So what is FOX saying?
Not much really...Most of the promoters don't know if or when they have a Fox date set for 2008.

It looks like May will be the first cards for local Aussie action.

We are all systems go and our cards are always very well matched so that makes it easier for us when Fox arrives to cover it live.

Thanks for the response mate.

It would be nice if Fox was willing to work a bit closer with the promoters...

Turns out the Big Time Boxing program on 14/3 is a week old card from the USA.
