the sun's saturday boxing column
Todays article referred to a british world champion boxer getting knocked out in a club. I can't imagine who it would be.My guess, it is just a rumour.Would be interesting to know.

Thats what I thought. I can't see it happening to be honest, and it smelt a bit off when I read it this morning.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:If it was true, we'd have heard by now mate.big lennox wrote:It just said "a british world champion boxer was knocked out cold by a punter". Sounds like just a rumour to me. I hope its just a rumour in any event.
It's just Warren being his usual self.

I'm no Poirot (though I have my Jack Regan moments) but I'd start by asking who is a British world champion NOT connected with allegedly — cos he wouldn't point the finger at one of his own. I make it a choice between Haye, Woods, Witter or Hatton, and considering that three of them are in training for fights, only one of them is likely to have been in a nightclub to get chinned in the first place.

It HAS to be a non-SN fighter. Why would Fwank mention it otherwise?!Autobarn wrote:surely it was Hatton. Warren always seems to have an axe to grind with him. Can't imagine Woods or Witter getting themselves into that position getting into pub/nightclub brawls. Certainly can't see a big bloke like Woods getting laid out.
maybe he's preparing to pull Macca out of the Haye fight? Chin problems...LOLEmerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:It HAS to be a non-SN fighter. Yeah well it may still \come out - some pudendum may be negotiating with the papers.
I mean after 30\pints of Guiness it's likely anyone could be chinny.
On a technical side - Hatton isn't actually a world champ at present though.

He's WBU, which Warren would recognise as a 'world title' if the circumstances suited him, so it's perfectly plausible that it is Jennings. In fact, I'd go one step further and say it's far more likely to be him than Hatton.TerribleTerry wrote:The Lurcher is no world champion. - another case of warren talking 5hit I am afraid..Dioufy wrote:Michael Jennings - my mate saw it happen.

Come on who is likely to want to have a go at Hatton. He is liked everywhere and i just cant see how he would get in to a situation where someone would want to deck him. Personally Michael Hunter sprung to mind as soon as i read it but then thought he has never been a world champ so that theory went out the window. According to Rawling Jennings is "A really likeable quiet lad" so why would anyone hit him unless they are a scummy Bully. So if this is not a rumor my final guess would be NAZ!. Cocky,Arrogant you name it.My Uncle went to hit him a few years back at a boxing writers party because he was being a mouthy Kant!. If it is a present champ ill say Gavin Rees just for the mere fact that he hit someone at a funeral so somebody might want to twat him over that!!!

I know Deserter, I was being a little facetious with the 'no world champ' quip - the fact that Warren has the front to claim a wbu holder as a 'world champ' is just at the heart of what is wrong with the modern game!Deserter wrote:He's WBU, which Warren would recognise as a 'world title' if the circumstances suited him, so it's perfectly plausible that it is Jennings.
