Frankie Duarte

Post by saad »

I just picked up the Ring interview special and there is an interview with Frankie Duarte from the mid-80's in there. Very interesting guy and it sounds like he was in some real wars. Has anyone seen Duarte-Alberto Davila II or Duarte-Bernardo Pinango?

In 1973 I was head coach for the Los Angeles National Golden Gloves team, and Frankie Duarte was part of the team, the finals were in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Frankie Duarte was a willing, easy-to-hit fighter while
Alberto Davila had a beautiful boxing style. In the
second bout between the two fighters, Davila was
taking Duarte apart until he came down with a
cut over an eye, which led to the bout being
stopped and Duarte winning by TKO.
