what has happened to this site over the last few months ??

50% of the posts are 'troll' posts

I get the impression from others that Doghouse either did some spring cleaning or the trolls lost interest there.

If it's the latter, maybe we should find out what they did and copy.

Boxrec used to have very high standards of poster but the new additions are spoiling it a bit and making it reminicent of the general forum at ESB (ie kids in the playground)

Here's an idea LIMIT THE NUMBER OF DAILY POSTS FOR TROLLS, With repeat offending GETTING BANS - its the only way.

Plopeater is clearly a troll and should be banned ASAP, he ruins thread and is either Spud, Search, DG, Stepinfetchit or Simpsons

It's funny that boxing seems to attract such a large proportion of trolls on forums, moreso than other sports or common interests.

My idea was (if possible to put into practice) is for posters with less than 100 or even 250 posts NOT to be able to start threads.

I agree this forum has gone downhill since the year began, everyday it seems there is a new Hatton thread. I never thought i'd say this but it has probably dropped below Current Scene in terms of quality. :(

Stepin AKA Simpsons is not this Plopmuncher, it's not Search either i don't think.......Search is cool.

Whenever Spud re-enters then you ALWAYS get at least 1 or 2 new registered screeen names that are just on a wind up.

IMO one of the worst ever trolls that is like a wolf in sheeps clothing is HitmanHatton1.......read his posts here and on doghouse and all he does is make wind up posts about Ricky Hatton that deserve to get dissed.

i am sorry if i offend you with my views on boxing but if you read i am new to the sport aND how will i learn if i get banned.

i get the feeling that the majority of these muppets are the same person

and i agree the current scene which used to be laughable is now more credible than this forum

i think the mods need to tighten up a bit

i also noticied that since the arrival of spud these guys turned up - this may be a little unfair on spud because his posts can be quite good - it may just be a coinsidence

Ultimately the mods are a little powerless (or at least I am) when it comes to banning. Yes, we could delete threads and I have considered this - but from my experience this doesn't work and just mainly starts threads saying "why has my thread been deleted".

But yeah, its annoying me too and I am sure the other mods so we will have to get our heads sorted and go for it.

I you are new to boxing wanting to learn... why don't you just read the views of the forum for a few months. Instead of posting continually about Hatton and Hatton's rivals like you know everything on them.

As a new poster, who registered in July last year but has only really been on this forum for 48 hours, I thought I'd add my input from what I've seen in the past 2 days.

From what I can see so far, most decent topics are ruined by members who can't debate properly, as soon as a debate starts, people start chucking insults or wanting to fight the other members, which is ridiculous as it'll never happen, I suppose these are the members affectionately known as 'trolls', I think if there were some clear rules implemented by the mods/admins then this would cut this out, as if they didn't obey the rules an ip ban would be handed out (I'm not sure if this already happens).

I also think that the forum could be cleared up a bit as well, with a few more sub forums, including an introduction forum for new members.

Other than the above points, I like boxrec, its the most in depth boxing forum that I can find.

Many of the guys here have great knowledge of the sport and you will pick up a lot by reading their posts. As well as fans some are boxers, others have some involvment in the sport, and some such as Terry D are writers. Another thing to bear in mind is many read without ever posting.

Guys just give me a chance and you'll find i'm a good guy just with a thirst for boxing

Then learn by reading more and posting less. I seem to have cocked up. It looks like plopeater wrote what I said. I seem to have edited his post somehow.

I was giving you sound advice. If you are new to boxing listen and learn. Nobody is saying you cant express a point of view but that many posts in such a short time is rediculous on a subject you know little about. I have posted over three years. At the rate you are going you will pass me in just over a week.
