Name one match throughout history you wish

Post by Newbie »

What match throughout history (that went to decision) do you most wish would have had had unlimited rounds and which boxer would you have picked to win? Hagler vs. Leonard? Dempsey vs. Tunney? Frazier vs. Ali?

so hard to say because the boxers in question would train for that kind of fight so we'd see a big adjustment instyles. But..a few opinions..the Hagler/Leonard fight wouldn't have taken place because part of Leonard's strategy was to sucker Hagler into a twelve round fight, and Hagler virutally handed him the first three rounds (I don't agree with those who say the first four.) Ali/Frazier? Frazier the first fight maybe, but Frazier couldn't even come out for the fifteenth in the last one. Dempsey Tunney? Had they gone fifteen instead of just ten, Tunney might have stopped Dempsey in the first, almost certainly in the second. Dempsey was shot after the so called long count, and said years later the reason he was glad a third one never took place because he was afraid his eyes might have been permanently damaged.

But..hey..too theoretical...you can't extend the fights they fought for the reason I began with....just would have fought them so differently. Now, as much as I dislike everything about the world's most overrated fighter, Marciano would have been good in unlimited or long range fights...the S.O.B just got stronger and stronger. Of course, I'm also assuming he and Weill would have made the same kind of matches.....never against a really good fighter in his prime.

Leonard was always known for his indurance although he appeared to be fading against Hagler. Leonard was a distance runner pre-olympic days which probably aided with his come from behind endurance. Tunney was at his peak Dempsey was at the other end of his career. Each Ali Fraser fight was a completely different one so I will go with the first. Ali vs Fraser 1 over 15 Fraser wins, Tunney vs Dempsey over 15 Tunney wins, Leonard vs Hagler over 15 Hagler wins, because of his strength.
