Would you pay to see Benn-Eubank 3?
Would you pay to see Benn-Eubank 3?
Following on from Fenech-Nelson, if it was announced that a third Benn-Eubank fight was to take place in 6 months would you be sucked in when they renewed their verbal hostilities at the press conference?
Would you want to watch it or be repelled? Or both?

Nigel told some magazine that he got his balance back when he did some sparring a few years back (around 2000) that he lost after the McClellan fight due to scar tissue on the brain not having healed. Then shortly after that (not due to this magazine quote) he was offered a multi-million dollar three-fight comeback package from US promoter Butch Lewis, to campaign at light-heavyweight, that would culminate in him fighting Michael Nunn in an eliminator to face Roy Jones Jr. He says he would have accepted if his wife let him.
Ambrose Mendy offered Benn and Eubank £500,000 each to fight eachother again three years back.
And nah I wouldn't pay, it would be a joke.

Nigel on mma 08Yeah, I really respect what those guys do. I do watch it. I can't not watch it - I grew up with violence. But it's not my thing anymore, you know, I try not to watch it.
10 years ago I'd of got in there if I was offered the money. If I could of made hundreds of thousands of pounds any time between, say, 1990, (and) 1995, I'd of gone over to that from the boxing.
I had this raw but overwhelming kicking ability, and in the street I liked to jump in feet-first. I'd of done some severe damage in that cage, and that makes my very soul shudder now.

Benn probably blames boxing for the fate of McCellan, he was suicidal after that incident if I'm not wrong, yes Benn owes the sport allot but then again he made himself too and boxing hasa debt to Benn, allot of us got into the sport because of Eubank-BennTerry D wrote:Hatton wanted to win that fight, he just didn't have enough to win with. Hardly on a par with Benn's born again rants. Without boxing he would be another religious voice shouting into the ether.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:I paid for Mayweather-HattonTerry D wrote:Respect to Benn for his career but why would you pay to see a guy who no longer has any respect for the sport whatsoever.
Hatton disrespects the sport by not facing his number 1 contender, as does Mayweather
If you want to see Benn - McClellan II, it's going to happen. I promise you it's going to happen.
It's going to happen on the very biggest stage of them all; and it isn't Old Trafford, Las Vegas, Wembley, MGM Grand or anywhere else. And we'll have a whole series of fights at this location in front of a crowd of one - the Lord Jesus Christ.
Only this time there'll be no pain and suffering. So if you want to see Benn - McClellan II, I suggest you ask the Lord to forgive you for enjoying Benn - McClellan I.

Thats not correct, Benn actually wanted Jones for the payday but it wasnt made because of Don King & Jones not wanting to do business with him. I'm not sure why the Toney fight didnt happen but Toney lost to Jones and went into being a reclouse. The Eubank-Benn 2 winner was signed to fight NunnTerry D wrote:Benn ducked Toney and Jones, self-confessed in one case. Glass houses and all that. Hatton is just the whipping boy at his moment in time, people lose all sense of perspective, they will later move onto anotherwhipping boy. He wanted to beat Floyd (who happens to be better than Witter, or anyone Witter will evert face, that is the truth), he showed strength of character versus Kostya. He may grate with you but he is not popping-up every week slagging the sport off and biting the hand that fed him.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Benn probably blames boxing for the fate of McCellan, he was suicidal after that incident if I'm not wrong, yes Benn owes the sport allot but then again he made himself too and boxing hasa debt to Benn, allot of us got into the sport because of Eubank-BennTerry D wrote: Hatton wanted to win that fight, he just didn't have enough to win with. I like Benn but if he wants to draw a line under boxing get off the after dinner gravy train, where those hard memories will be dredged up time and again.
Hatton's simply using the sport for money and fooling the average fan into him being the best man at 140 despite getting owned by a great 130lber in his last fight. Yes Mayweather is better than Witter but Witter is still number 1 challenger at 140 does some things better than Mayweather that would trouble Hatton
On point Benn didnt have to give Eubank a shot at his title, thats what hatton should be doing with Witter, Benn gave us great fights and some British boxing history, Hatton doesn't want to give us the same, I know who I have more respect for.

i know DK offered Nigel and Jones jnr 25 million each or something stupid.. and i dont blame becos the McLellan tragedy was on every main news bulletin in the states for a while and DK could bill it as a 'revenge mission' for Jones.. but didnt Jones make a counter offer to Benn that would take place in London instead of US with Naz and Bruno on the card too against some of jnr's training partners..? think it was something like 10 million Nigel turned down..
"I want the three-fight package. My bro's must go with me. I must have cover if I go to another country. Bruno-Cole would be a good fight. Let's make it a great night. I've seen Hamed. He's a pretty good fighter but Gainer watched the fight against Robinson and said he could beat him. Derrick don't turn anyone down. Bruno can punch, but Cole has more skills. That will balance out into a good fight. Me and Benn - enough said. I like Benn and that's why I want to fight him. It's a sportsman challenge. (But) they can't speak for themselves. They can't make their own decisions without King. We can. They don't have the power. They're denying the public of some great fights ... people want to see something which is intriguing to their minds. Something which will look good ... I really like the biggest challenge out there. When I fought James Toney, it was a project. Benn is a project because he is a warrior and he will be a tough fight for me. I really believe Benn wants to fight me. I have a lot of faith in him. I respect him."Greg Nicholas wrote:i know DK offered Nigel and Jones jnr 25 million each or something stupid.. and i dont blame becos the McLellan tragedy was on every main news bulletin in the states for a while and DK could bill it as a 'revenge mission' for Jones.. but didnt Jones make a counter offer to Benn that would take place in London instead of US with Naz and Bruno on the card too against some of jnr's training partners..? think it was something like 10 million Nigel turned down..

He entered a few Kickboxing tournaments on army leave and had some sort of Prize Fight inbetween his army career and boxing at club shows/London ABA's. He won six army titles, from light-welterweight to heavyweight! Won every tournament he entered in the army, in East Germany, West Germany and everywhere. Just raw natural talent I think.
He didn't support West Ham in footy though (even though he was from East London), read an interview where he said he liked Man U's attacking football and his favourite players were George Best, and later Bryan Robson ("a player who wanted to win every tackle and score every goal").
Good lad Nige.
His cousin's Paul Ince, and apparently they used to walk around Ilford like they owned the place when they were early teens... and Benn would scrap with anyone, even blokes.

why either of them would fancy taking punishment after a ten year rest is beyond me........if they ain't got a dime left maybe and even then it's a shame when a person can't find another way to earn a crust out of life other than by getting thumped to a pulp.........how many rounds would it be over.......would have to be at least 10 surely??.....should EITHER of these guys be getting hit it ludicrous to even think it!
you could hardly think of 2 guys that have been in such epic wars when u consider Mclellan and Thompson and the like.
when u consider phrases like Benn allegedly said (i quote someone earlier in the thread).....the scar tissue on my brain has healed up now I can balance/spar again.
this thread's either a wind -up or it's just plain stupid, it would have been quicker to type no and move on.
(oh as for Hopkins wasn't the guy in clink til his mid-twenties, probably pasting thugs and deadbeats on the prison circuit if they really is such a thing, probably never even got tagged.........might explain his SUPERB longevity and enthusiasm for the sport at his age)
