What is his real reason for doing this? It has got to be something to do with greed, right?

I can't believe this guy, he makes out that he's doing us all a favour by fighting at a social time. I wouldn't watch this fight even if it was in my back garden - i'd send my rottweilers out just for a laugh - anyway some of us have better things to do.

It's bollox, because HBO & Showtime already said no thanks to this. Who else was going to offer him big cash for a later start, some obscure cable channel probably, and it wouldn't have been much.

Hatton speaks more bullshit than a politician these days, or a promoter.

Exactly, what a load of old tripe. If HBO were interested, it would have been at 3 in the morning and the fans would have sat there shivering inside the stadium while Hatton counted dollar signs rolling through his head.

IMO you can't claim to be the Peoples Champion whilst robbing the British fans of the BIGGEST fight there's ever been in British Boxing, he's pissing in the fans pockets and telling them it's raining!

He doesn't mind 'treating' the fans to a 10pm start time for their £14.99 PPV money yippee (were US TV really that bothered about this mismatch anyway???), but he wouldn't go as far as to treat them to theWitter fight.

He's got some fecking neck on him, I'll give him that

Most of the neck has gone because he's now slowly introducing Gordon Ramsey and girlfriend Jenny into the soap opera.

At Home with the Hattons, he lives near his mum you know.

In my eyes Ricky Hatton is becoming a 'celebrity boxer' and a Frank Bruno type character. No doubt we will see him in Panto or Celebrity Come Dancing soon. Ricky could give Max Clifford a run for his money in the PR stakes because he never misses a chance to promote himself and mention how good his opponents are. Some of his PR spin is blatantly not true. For example, he says "I've fought some of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the World", well Ricky the truth is that you have fought two top 10 pound-for-pound fighters (Tsyzu & Mayweather) and you only beat one of them, and he was 34 and had only boxed 3 rounds in the previous 2 years. Ricky mentions that Castillo was in the top 10 pound-for-pound list when he fought him but this is simply not true, Castillo wasn’t even in anybodies top 15 !!

Also, Ricky said "I've won 6 World titles", again this is not true, he has won 3 world titles (IBF light welter, WBA light welter, and WBA Welter). He was given the Ring Magazine belt, and the other two he won in the ring (IBO and WBU) are completely worthless and not recognised as genuine world titles. The best belt is the WBC title which has been held by all the great champions, such as, Hagler, Hearns, Chavez, Carlos Monzon, Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Hagler, Duran, Tyson, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Calzaghe, Barrera, Morales, Marquez, to name just a few.

I also take exception to Ricky's comment that "It's about doing right by the fans". This is utter nonsense. It's about doing what's right for Ricky Hatton so don't try and fool the public. If its about doing right by the fans, why did 'Team Hatton' sell their allocation of tickets for the Mayweather fight at a 30% mark up ? And why is Ricky not doing right by the fans by fighting Junior Witter for the prestigious WBC belt ? And is putting your non-title tune-up fight (Lazcano) on Pay Per View doing right by the fans Ricky ?

I think it is time for Ricky Hatton to take a reality check. Is Ricky Hatton the best boxer in the UK ? No, that is Joe Calzaghe. Until he fights Witter, we do not know if Ricky Hatton is the best light-welterweight within a 50 mile radius of his own back yard....Never mind the best in the world!!!!

No but as he would say "Ricky Hatton is just one of the lads, that why people like me"

You're right Ricky, now Splash it All over, No what I mean 'Arry.

The more of this celebrity association Ricky does the more I think of the Rocky II scenes with Stallone dressed as a caveman in a cage.

Chambers ur bang on: "Don't piss in my pocket and tell me its raining!" But at the same time if I were managing Hatton it wouldn't be wise to put him in a really dangerous match coming off a bad knockout loss. I think this fight is OK as a tune-up but to bang on like its a big fight is ridiculous. But its still unexcusable that he refuses to fight Witter.

Great post. An absolute crock. "He hasn't got a business brain on him, hasn't Richard," according to his Dad in this month's BM.

What a load of unadulterated excrement.

I saw an interview with Hatton on Sky Sports and he was on about his upcoming fight. He was trying to sell Lazcano as a top class fighter saying he went the distance with Castillo (yes Ricky, he did 4 years ago) and Harris (and we all know what happened to sissy viv in his next fight don't we). Then he's going on about how all the cast of Corrie and all the Man City and United players will be there to worship the mighty peoples champion.

Along with this At Home With The Hattons farce as well now, it all makes me cringe as he's now become what he said he'd never be, a "Flash Harry".

Yes I read that too, what a patronising c*** he's turned into, the pair of them.
I'd actually like to see him get sparked now, in one of his bloody hand picked warm ups, and I can't think of another Brit fighter I'd say the same about.
Ok maybe Herbie Hide now and again.

I hate to jump on any kind of hatton-bashing bandwagon, but it is getting to that point now... I can put up with most of what he's done in his career but trying to make out that he has chosen to put this fight on at a reasonable time for his uk fans?? Sorry Rick, not sure I'm buying that one mate.... and I wont be buying the PPV either.

Have to say I have been defending Mr Hatton of late especially in the Junior Witter debate - is it too late to change my mind??

When I saw the headlines - "This is for my fans" blah blah blah.

Team Hatton will be making lots of money for the Lazcano fight so why in my opinion is the horse sh*t headlines sent to the media saying it is for the fans?

To paint himself in the best light, its all about marketing, and overhyping an average product, none of it is about being a real fighter

Not sure why hes getting a homecoming party for being KTFO anyway
