Witter is out to restore some pride into Yorkshire Boxing

Post by Wellington »

Junior Witter is out to restore some pride into Yorkshire boxing when he defends his WBC light-welterweight title against American Timothy Bradley at the Trent FM Arena Nottingham on Saturday, 10th May live on ITV1 and a delayed ShoBox special in the US.

Witter (Bradford, England) makes the third defence of his prestigious world title on a Hennessy Sports in association with GoldenPalace.com show. After seeing his fellow Yorkshire man Clinton Woods lose his IBF light-heavyweight title on points to Antonio Tarver in April.

‘The Hitter’ is promising to produce his best and denies Bradley’s claim he has taken him lightly.
He said: "This is a chance for me to pick up Yorkshire boxing after Clinton’s loss. It was disappointing because I really wanted him to win, but Clinton was well beat.

"The big lights seemed to get to him but I bet if the fight was in Sheffield Clinton could have beat Tarver.

"It’s up to me now to make sure I keep my world title because there are not that many world champions left in Britain now.

"I’ve not taken Bradley lightly and have had a long training camp for this one, so expect to see the best from me."

How can you call a Tarver fight a GOOD FIGHT???

None of us have seen Bradley, apart from Terry D, so how can you say he is not a good fighter or a better fighter than Tarver? Tarver is basic at best.

Jones was not THE Jones we all know.

Johnson no despite being a good fighter has many losses.

Bradley is undefeated, remember when Goyo Varas came over to beat
down Hodgkinson?

Unbeaten unknown fightes are dangerous just because of the points I have made.

I hope Bradley is chinny and gets blown out by Witter in 1!

Shut up!

How can you compare

Judah The World Champion fighting a novice at a weeks notice to
Woods the World Champion losing to Tarver?

Witter was a noivce, Woods a seasoned Champion.

Shut up!

COME ON JUNIOR FCUKING WITTER!!!!!

I hope Bradley is coming to fight, because the last thing anyone (apart from Team Hatton) needs is another Corley fight, hopefully he's going to pressure Witter and try and outwork him, how suuccessful he is will depend on how good his whiskers are?

Another spectacular KO like the Harris one and Witter is on a run and Witters stock rises both sides of the Atlantic, then maybe the Hatton fight will get made (I live in hope)

This is an absolutly massive fight for Juniour Witter if he can score a spectacular KO on Prime time television then all those who hadn't heard of him will think he's the ducks nuts and the commentators can do all there talking about a hatton fight and the key demographic of casual fans will get behindthe fight.

Yeah I hope the ITV team bring Hattons shennanigans to light to the masses, if they can talk up the Hatton clash and Witter can perform then it'll get the public talking and they'll realise that Hatton is running for his life

Anyone who compares Judah Vs Witter to Woods Vs Tarver is a fool.

Do you have something against Witter? I'm just wondering what; is it because of trying to get Hatton in the ring? I like Witter, he's not popular, nobody wants to fight him but he carries on regardless. I don't get people actively disliking him, I could understand indifference but for a guy with a username like yours I wonder if you sympathize with Hatton protecting himself from Witter, or if you're one of the people who play fantasy manager and don't think the best fights should happen because their favourite won't earn enough millions. Just wondering.
I used to like Hatton but I've gone off him of late, he's a lot like Mayweather tbh, should call himself "money" Hatton. I mean if Witter's not good enough to fight him why is Lazcano? and if he won't bring in enough money how is it that Lazcano will? Are millions of doodles flying over to watch a mismatch and buy loads of tickets? why not fight Witter just to get rid of the stigma? They could fight a couple of weeks after the Lazcano fight, why not?

only just worked that out bassie.

always hated his arrogance tbh.

the way he carries himself.

obviously i'd like to see hatton take on witter and give him his beating.

but a part of me finds it funny that he's getting left out in the cold.

keep him suffering on the fringes.

it was semi-rhetorical that question. I just see him as an honest pro who's not very good putting himself across in front of a camera, bit like Lennox but then a lot of people hated him too.
I dunno, I think he'd beat Hatton but even if I didn't I think Hatton should still fight him, just because he's there. If he's so big on putting the fans first then why doesn't he fight all the top guys in the next two years?

Hatton will be gone soon. Forget him fighting Witter - it is not going to happen.

He'll fight Lazcano, secure another big fight in Vegas and that'll be that folks.

Witter isn't a 'big fight' or put it this way, it aint big enough for Hatton at this stage of his career (ie: near the end)

I think hatton carries himself far worse, to talk about not wanting another fighter to have any money is just not very honerable. He seems like an arrogent scally.

Witter has taken every oppertunity he was given to take on the best fighters and that inculded taking on Judah at 2 weeks notice... Hatton has had it easy throughout his carrer and the only time he didn't have the built in advantages he lost!

Witter-Hatton is the BIGGEST fight in British Boxing it's a humungous fight!! Hatton knows he gets KTFO and loses face by being beat by a fellow Brit, that's why the fight isn't happening.

As for forgetting about Hatton-Witter, not until both have been retired for at least 5 years.... then I'll just post about Hatton being a coont for DUCKING Witter
