Khan will batter Gomez.

Post by Rocky Balboa »

This fight is pointless. Khan will be too big, strong & fast for Gomez. Again, Khan will be the naturally bigger man than his opponent.

All this talk of Khan perhaps fighting the best in the LW division, yet he's now fighting a guy who last October was beaten at SFW by Johanneson. Its ridiculous.

Khan probably learned from being on the pads recently with Mayweather snr than he will from fighting Gomez.

This is just conning the public, that's what it is. Its a farce. Don't get me wrong, Khan is a good boxer - he has talent & skills & has come on since turning pro.

However, at the moment, it appears Khan is just a money-making scheme.

Gomez is a huge step down, Gomez was never any better than domestic and he is so far past it now he probably wouldnt even win the english title,
and the fact he will be steppin up in weight to fight the much bigger khan is another typical warren move.

On the brightside he will come to fight and can punch, but he will walk
right into Khans lightning fast combos and be stopped early.

Do you guys think Khan is that good? I mean, he was about 2 weight classes heavier than st clair in their fight and Khan got hit a lot and couldn't put st clair away. To me Khan is not a good fighter. He'll look spectacular against nonentities but as he moves up he'll get exposed. Kind of like Panchito Bojado.

its not a matter of how good we think he is, its a matter of Gomez is past it, and unless he retires he is going to become nothing but a journeyman.

Khan has bags of potential, offensive wise, he has potential to win a world title, but his defence is awful, and with a suspect chin its only a matter of time.

When i heard he was leaving his trainer i was hoping the rumours of him going with Mayweather were true, he would sort his defence out, but i was sad to see the hype was for nothing as he signed with dean powell.

On a positive note, i do think he has improved since the Limond fight,
but Warrens match making is becoming a joke as Gomez is a big step backwards.

A shame Gomez is so past it - to my money his best win was over Kirakosyan; outlasting a man that hits that hard must be especially stunning considering Gomez's attacking style.

However, he's shot to shit now, and I'll be extremely disappointed if people actualy buy this as a 50-50 fight.

Have the BBBofC actually said that this is an even fight? Why would they say that?

I think he is questioning whether this should have been accepted as a fair match by the Board.

Yeah- is this for the commonwealth title?

Seems grossly unfair that they let this go ahead, but not the recent Sean Hughes fight.

My first thought was to say SN have sunk to a new low but they haven't really, this is standard form. Warren makes an investment and makes sure he gets a big return before there are any risks, boxers know it when they sign the contract, they know the route they're going down. So Warren doesn't deserve all the blame.

Khan's the clear favourite but you should save your spare money as Gomez won't last beyond 3 rounds.

Last thing a fighter loses is his punch, and that alone gives a fired up Gomez a chance over 3 rounds or so. He hits about 10 times harder than Limmond.
He'll be looking for a lottery winning left hook, and Khan does tend to hang that chin up there, as he moves in for the kill.

He wouldn't have the speed to catch Khan with his punch and he couldn't hurt the fragile Johanesson with It.

Limmond hit him on the temple too, not the chin.

Why don't you flush those quids down the toilet Blowe, or better yet - just give them to me?!

We know Warren is fully clued up about Gomez, the boy has no chance!

Exactly Max. Gomez is a lamb to the slaughter in this one (albeit an unlikely looking one  )

In all fairness, you could, if you were being perverse, put in a counter argument here that Frank is doing the best he can for Amir. Hypothetically...

Like any serious sportsman, Khan hopes to make enough out of his career to keep himself and his family for life. He is at the moment 21 and, if we're being kind, 3-5 years away from his peak. He is making all sorts of noises about a world title shot but, unless he goes up to face a poor 140lb champion, he'd be an underdog against any of the current competitors. Indeed, if he got on the wrong side of, say, Katsidis, he may end up being f****d over for good at 22.

Frank therefore is helping out by making Khan a pretty penny whilst simultaneously giving him the chance to develop his skills and experience until he is genuinely ready for a title shot...

I hear where you're coming from, but how does beating up on a shot, smaller fighter help Khan develop skills and experience? You can easily make a case for it doing completely the opposite - heightening his sense of his own invincibility and leaving him woefully under-prepared for when he does end up facing a genuine test.

ahhh but remember what gomez did to alex arthur? Khan may do another Earl on him, but supposing gomez comes out fast and lands a right hand?

its usually retarded to say 'you never know' as the basis of a bet, but that dane rocked khan for christs sake, if gomez comes out with some 'domestic bustup' passion that may be enough! 100/1 on rounds is still great value given how frail khan is!

Having said this, the spectre of Earl still looms as i keep hearing how shot gomez is...

The fight will almost certainly be promoted along the lines of what Gomez did to Arthur and how absolutely dangerous this is.

It's an absolute Khan, this fight is.

If Warren brought in someone with Gomez's punch who is actually in his prime I'd be more impressed.

How the BBBof C can sanction this fight is beyond me.

It is a disgrace and they should be ashamed of themselves. Aren't they supposed to protect the fighters interest?
